Arnold Schwarzenegger has been a close ally of WWE and professional wrestling for a long time. He knows several legends, like the late Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, Triple H, and many old-timers. Also, the seven-time Mr. Olympia knows several new WWE superstars as well. But a WWE legend recently recalled how a former WWE Champion, who recently passed away, used his friendship with Arnie and Hogan for personal gain.

The WWE Hall of Famer who traveled with The Iron Sheik when he was young shared the details of how he got discounts showing pictures of Schwarzenegger and The Hulkster.

A Hall of Famer recalls a funny incident involving The Iron Sheik, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Hulk Hogan

In the recent episode of 1 of a Kind with RVD podcast, Rob Van Dam remembered and paid his respects to The Iron Sheik who departed for his heavenly abode last week. The deceased star known for his endearing personality and jovial nature, always engaged in fun activities. Rob Van Dam reminisced about a similar incident in how Sheik showed pictures of ‘The Styrian Oak’ and Hogan and got discounts at shops, restaurants, etc.

RVD said, “First off traveling with him, I’ve got all the same stories as everybody else. He would try to use his photos as currency. And he would be offended when you try to whip out your money… Whenever the bill comes and we whip out our wallet he would actually get mad at us and tell us to put it away.” 

He added, “Then he would ask to speak the manager and he would go through his spiel where he pulled out his pictures. And he would say this me is and Cyndi Lauper and this is me and that jabroni Arnold Schwarzenegger. He’d ask whose neck is bigger, his neck looked way bigger in the photo and then there is one of him and Hulk Hogan…Then he’d say., ‘Maybe you care of our bill…50% off okay’…He did it everywhere.”

Even Arnie and The Hulkster will be shocked when they would have found about it. Maybe Hogan might have had a talk with Sheik and they would’ve had a laugh over it.

The only Iranian WWE Champion was truly one of his kind. However, he was one of the most beloved personalities on the roster. However, RVD shared one more story of Sheik’s incident at the airport.

The Iron Sheik took the last 75 cents from a fan for an autograph

‘Mr’ Monday Night’ recalled he and Sheik were once going to travel to another town. The Iranian-born WWE star reached early, while RVD was late. But when he arrived, Sheik surprised him when he charged a fan 75 cents for an autograph. 

As per RVD, those were the last 75 cents of that fan, as he thought the autograph was free. Moreover, that fan expressed his anger at Sheik for charging him.
