In the early 90s, Vince McMahon was more eying to sign wrestlers with bodybuilding physiques in WWE. One of the stars we can recall is Lex Luger who had a crisp physique and McMahon wanted to make him the next Hulk Hogan in the company. However, that’s not all, the 77-year-old former WWE CEO wanted to sign another bodybuilder at that time, but the star rejected the offer

The now 54-year-old bodybuilder had some other commitments at the time. Hence, he said no to WWE after McMahon had already planned a character for him.

WWE is considered one of the top organizations to work in for wrestlers. The scenario was the same in the early 90s as it was the only major promotion. Vince McMahon had a knack to sign bodybuilders with massive physiques for his larger-than-life characters. Thus, WWE reached out to Mike O’ Hearn in the early 90s.

The 54-year-old former Gladiators participant recently appeared for an interview with Chirs Van Vliet. He shared that even though being close to WWE and its stars why he didn’t join the company.

Hearn said, “In 1992, which is funny because it was the same year Billy (Gunn) signed with Vince. Shane McMahon came out had dinner with me, and a week later flew me to Stamford. We sat down with the cowhide chairs, Vince came in and we had a talk, a great discussion.”

He added, “Sent me down to wardrobe to get suited up and stuff and had an idea of what my character would be and I was gone off to camp. Back in California, they got into negotiations but I had Gladiators already. So the battle started with well we got him on Gladiators and so it fell apart.”

Hearn is very over with his fans on the internet currently because of his charm and famous memes of the ‘Baby don’t hurt me’ song in the background. With a decent acting background, he would’ve been a great fit for WWE as Vince McMahon already had future plans for him. But he chose Gladiators and Battle Dome over pro wrestling, but he respects the sport.

In the late 90s, while WCW was on the stage of closing its door, they had a TV crossover with Battle Dome. Hearn was one of the participants in that show and that is the time he claims to have started knowing many wrestling stars.

To this day 54-year-old, Hearns has appeared in Battle Dome and Gladiators in the 90s era. Moreover, he is the only star to appear in the 90s Gladiators and 2008 American Gladiators. Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali hosted the 2008 version of American Gladiator.
