A wrestling fan Dark Puroresu Flowsion posted on X on December 31st, a clip from AJPW wrestling promotion. The clip shows Charlie Dempsey entering the AJPW wrestling ring. In the clip, he walks down the aisle and then scratches his shoes on the side ring before entering the ring, a style reminiscent of his father. The clip was originally posted by YupVidz.

The clip has raised questions on two-front. The first question is about the wrestling career of Charlie Dempsey while the other is about the future of WWE.

Charlie Dempsey makes his AJPW Debut amidst his WWE run

For fans who do not know Charlie Dempsey, he is the son of WWE Legend, William Regal. Hence, his look, style, and persona look familiar to The Attitude Era fans. Dempsey joined WWE in September 2021 at NXT UK.

The clip was posted alongside a tweet, that read, “NXT Charlie Dempsey makes his entrance at AJPW today!”. What does this mean for WWE fans and Charlie Dempsey? Well, for now, Charlie Dempsey is still a part of WWE’s NXT roster as confirmed by the site. Thus, this entrance is more about the inter-twining amalgamation of the two wrestling promotions.

Dempsey made his AJPW debut when he teamed up with Yuma Anzai and faced off against Leona Fujinami & Tatsumi Fujinami at the AJPW Mania event in a thrilling tag team bout. He is also scheduled to face Katsuhiko Nakajima, the current AJPW Triple Crown Champion on the 3rd of January.

Triple H is opening up the forbidden doors as a part of a greater strategy

With the amalgamation, it looks like WWE has opened the forbidden doors under the reign of Triple H. It isn’t the first of such instances as WWE allowed Mickie James to make a Royal Rumble 2022 entrance with her Impact Women’s Championship. But Dempsey’s appearance is a bit different.

WWE’s idea to cross the forbidden door could be considered as a direct reply to AEW who has joined hands with NJPW, a rival promotion for AJPW. Hence, Triple H is looking towards hitting birds with one stone.
