MJF’s blunders during the press conference leave Tony Khan in disarray

During the press conference of AEW for WrestleDream 2023 PLE, AEW Champion MJF made a blunder with the ring name of a new All-Elite Wrestler. For weeks, there were strong rumors of the addition of Edge to the AEW roster, after the CM Punk fiasco. After his contract expired with WWE, Edge decided to work at AEW for a change.

MJF: “Edge”
Tony Khan: “Woah, woah, woah…”
MJF *eye rolls*: “Adam Copeland”

The tweet was made on October 1st and was referenced to the October 1 PLE WrestleDream by AEW.

In the clip, MJF said, “Me, Draby Allin, Christian Cage, Edge, (Eye rolls) Adam Copeland, Malakai Black, Miro.” MJF’s smirk in between the lines was a reference to the promotion’s habit of changing the ring name of wrestlers who transition to AEW from WWE.

At times, a wrestler’s name is changed due to copyright issues related to a particular character. So, Tony Khan intervened as AEW did not want to refer to Adam Copeland by his WWE ring name Edge.
