Tony Khan has been in hot water since 2023. His pitfalls include the mishandling of talent, the investigation of CM Punk’s backstage antics, and, most importantly, his behavior on social media. The CEO of AEW has had a hard time dealing with criticism online. While reacting to it, he’s been damaging the company’s image. This has led to several experts and veterans of pro wrestling talking about what he should and should not have done.

Joining the mix is one WWE legend who believes Khan needs a more positive outlook on things. This WWE legend claims that it will not only benefit his company but also his image.

Khan was recently the topic on the Busted Open Podcast with Dave LaGreca. The guests joining him were WWE Hall of Famers Bully Ray with Mark Henry, along with ECW legend Tommy Dreamer, Mickie James, Thunder Rosa, and Denise Salcedo. While talking with Ray and Henry, LaGreca brought up Khan and his social media antics. Ray and Henry, who have been in the business for decades now, had some select words for it.

“What good did it do? Nothing, Zero!” Ray began by saying. He explained that Khan’s tweets even had hardcore AEW fans reject his behavior.

In most cases, hardcore fans are the ones who stand with the product they like. However, in this case, even the fans were not on the AEW head honcho’s side.

The whole topic revolved around how Khan handled the Hook situation badly. Fans tweeted as to why Hook was getting a championship shot, to which Khan said, “@730hook 28-1 career record, on winning streak calls out the Champ, a logical challenge sparks online outrage. Jinder has literally lost every single match he’s in for the past year, immediately gets title shot, where is the rage.”

Khan’s comparison to the WWE yet again left a sour taste in the fan’s mouth. Ray said, “You need to be above that. You need to be more professional than that. You need to lead by example.” This is how Ray would like to see Khan run things in a more positive light on social media.

The social media circus initiated by Khan

This is not the first time Khan has turned his social media into a circus.  The AEW president even took undignified shots at WWE during the AEW All In London PPV. At the heights of the Thursday night rating war with WWE, he even personally insulted Triple H &co for what he deemed to be underhanded business tactics. Be it rational or not, one can assume that his outburst didn’t do his product or promotion any good as they lost the ratings war to WWE.

Notable wrestling figures have also issued warnings to Khan for his immature social media usage and pointed out that it does more harm than good. Nevertheless, the 41-year-old has continued to throw daggers at the issues that he finds most troublesome. Has it yielded the outcome that he has desired? So far, it arguably does not look the case.
