Pro wrestling stars have a knack for making the day extra special for their fans. Chris Jericho recently set up an example of the same. While the star has made appearances worldwide including in Germany, Mexico, and Japan, he was recently seen at a rather obscure promotion. The latest country added to the former WWE star’s list is Vietnam. Here’s everything you need to know about Jericho’s latest, unannounced appearance in a Vietnamese indie circuit.

Chris Jericho’s unexpected sighting in Vietnam

This Saturday, fans of the Vietnam-based indie circuit, Vietnam Pro Wrestling (VPW), gathered to see Viva Van defending her PCW Ultra Women’s Championship against Sumie Sakai. Little did the fans know that they were in for a treat. Out of the blue, Chris Jericho was seen on the premises. The star was even seen around the ring where fans flocked around him trying to get pictures.

There are reports that the star was also seen in the ring. However, whether he cut a promo for his Vietnamese fans is still unknown. This happens to be his second appearance outside of America in the last two months.

The Le Champion recently made his debut at the Japan-based DDT promotion. There he faced off against his AEW rival Konusuke Takeshita. While this might come as a surprise to many fans, the inner gears were already set in motion a long time ago.

Why did Chris Jericho fly to Vietnam?

This July, Jericho had a couple of special guests on his podcast. Founder of the VPW, Rocky Huynh, and the English language commentator of the circuit, Carey Wass were present as guests on the July episode of Talk is Jericho. There the two discussed with the now AEW star what went into establishing the independent circuit. Jericho also mentioned that Huynh was someone who grew up watching pro wrestling and dreamt of starting a circuit based in his country. They further discussed their journey, particularly on how they started with wrestling on just mats. Later on, they received help from various stars such as the legendary Japanese wrestler, Fugo Fugo Yumeji, NXT star Dunne and many more.

According to them, Yumeji helped in putting together their first show. The story indeed has been awe-inspiring and Jericho might have decided to share it with the community on a larger scale. According to reports, the circuit is planning to film a documentary and might have called in Jericho for his insights. And it seems as though the 53-year-old star would be more than happy to help the circuit gain more popularity. Do you think Chris Jericho will be personally involved with this project?
