Tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite from the Propst Arena at Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama, was quite an amusing one. While the card featured huge names such as Blackpool Combat Club, Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, and Chris Jericho, there were two names who were even bigger than these and got All-in on the action.
Who? Sting and Ric Flair. While the former was expected considering his imminent retirement date of March 3rd, the latter was an unexpected one. So unexpected that it drew mixed reactions from fans as no one saw this coming.

Tonight’s Dynamite was a special one. It marked the last AEW appearance of Sting on AEW’s weekly programming as an active wrestler. So surely Tony Khan had something special planned for the big night, right? Well, yes, he did. As in the final segment of the show, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson headed to the ring, where Darby Allin launched a surprise attack. However, the twins outmaneuvered Allin. They applied the EVP Trigger and hit him with a bat. This is when Ric Flair stepped into the ring! The Jacksons give him the bat to hit Allin. However, Flair attacked the Jacksons instead!
However, Nicholas Jackson soon hits a low blow and the twins got the upper hand on the 75-year-old. The Jacksons made their way to the entrance when Sting’s music played but The Icon didn’t come out. Instead, Sting climbs down a wire from the ceiling! Suddenly the tables turned and the wrestling legend closed out Dynamite alongside Ric Flair and Darby Allin in the ring. This segment was surely going to hit the core memories of fans and give them a feeling of sweet nostalgia. But, turns out that fans actually did not want this to happen. And were quick to share their thoughts.
Fans did not want Flair to fight
The last segment of the match surely hinted at Rick Flair returning to in-ring action. In Sting’s retirement match, it is possible that Darby Allin may miss out on participating for some reason and Ric Flair tag teams with ‘the Icon’. However, if AEW pulls this move, then they would be going against their fans. Why? Because the fans have voiced out that they do not want to see The Nature Boy fight. Here are some tweets calling out AEW’s decision to make Flair fight:
One fan believes that seeing Flair fight aged 75 is nothing less than a human rights violation.
The fact that anyone has to sell for Ric Flair in 2024 is a human rights violation

Well, it looks like Ric Flair’s appearance surely affected the fans. Definitely not the way Khan wanted. But it did draw some reactions. Maybe, like they say, bad publicity would be good publicity? It sure had fans talking! What did you think of the segment? Let us know in the comments.
