This time the promotion in sight was STARDOM, a women’s wrestling promotion with whom AEW was looking to do business in future. However, to Tony Khan’s surprise, the move backfired on his face as the stakeholders of STARDOM are reportedly unhappy with his interference.
Troubles for Tony Khan despite supporting women’s wrestling
Renowned wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer spoke about the matter between Tony Khan and the STARDOM promotion on one of the recent episodes of his radio podcast. He said, “Somebody close to the situation in STARDOM said, ‘You have no idea how upset wrestlers and media are about Tony’s sticking it to Rossy.’”

Well, Tony Khan was probably not expecting the wrestlers to react negatively as the wrestlers had an issue with their former founder. However, his plans have backfired despite being known for promoting women’s wrestling in America. Also, given his childlike habit of sticking his nose across different promotions of the world, his move was expected.
As per Meltzer’s statement, different stakeholders from the STARDOM wrestling promotion are unhappy about the comments made by Tony Khan, founder of AEW. Tony Khan took to X on February 4th to bid adieu to STARDOM’s former executive producer and founder Rossy Ogawa. He tweeted, “Bye Rossy!” along with a meme that said “The Big Goodbye.”
It looks like Tony Khan’s tweet has caused damage to his plans for doing business with STARDOM. Dave Meltzer said that AEW was hoping for easier business following Ogawa’s exit. But what was the reason behind the termination of Rossy Ogawa?

Why did STARDOM terminated their founder Rossy Ogawa?
It is known that Rossy Ogawa, founder of STARDOM was recently axed by the promotion following controversial reasons. The promotion informed fans through social media on February 4th that Ogawa’s contract with STARDOM was terminated effective immediately.
STARDOM, a leading female wrestling promotion in Japan revealed on their website the reason behind Ogawa’s termination. Despite being the founder, Ogawa has been working on a contract with the promotion since 2019 as an executive producer and booker. However, he was terminated on account of poaching the performers and staff. They even apologized for the actions of Ogawa.
