MJF is undoubtedly one of AEW’s biggest stars. Recruited and vouched for by WWE’s Cody Rhodes and the former AEW World Champion, he has ascended the ranks decisively. However, the ending of 2023 was not kind to him. After being betrayed by Samoa Joe and learning that his best friend Adam Cole was The Devil, he lost his championship belt at AEW’s Worlds End. Moreover, his injury has left him without a chance to exact vengeance for the foreseeable future.

This led to speculation among fans regarding the star’s future in the company. However, Tony Khan had a few words of encouragement for the star.

Tony Khan talks about wanting to have MJF in AEW

The CEO of AEW, Tony Khan, recently appeared on News4JAX The Local Station. The episode titled Going Ringside Ep. 45: AEW Owner Tony Khan saw Khan touch upon multiple topics regarding the direction of the company in 2024. One of them was about MJF’s future in the company. Recently, the former AEW World Champion was removed from the main roster on the company’s website, which got fans talking about the star’s future.

When Khan was asked about this, he said, “I can say that MJF certainly has been a great part of AEW for the first five years.” MJF has been there since the start of AEW. Moreover, he has grown to become one of the most loved and over-stars in the company.

Khan also added, “He’s somebody we really value and I would love to have MJF in AEW in the future, should the contractual situation allow.” The open-ended nature of Khan’s answer won’t soothe the minds of the AEW faithful. However, it isn’t time to ring the alarm bells anytime soon, considering the lack of news that surrounds the prospect of a new deal for the revered star.

The possible future for MJF in AEW

While Cody Rhodes has opened the doors for MJF in the WWE. Fans still think he will side with AEW. Not only did he grow his career here, but was also crowned Champion here.

It will be interesting to see what MJF decides to do now that he does not have the ROH tag team belts nor the AEW World Championship.
