When Sasha Banks, who now goes by the name Mercedes Mone, left WWE last year, pro wrestling fans assumed she would sign with its rival promotion, AEW. Instead, she traveled halfway across the world, chose NJPW, and made Japan her new home.

But Tony Khan‘s recent statement has made it clear that she always has a home at the rival promotion. During the AEW Full Gear post-media scrum, the AEW president made some comments on Banks’ standing with his promotion, and it’s looking pretty promising for the wrestler.

There are already tons of rumors going around that Banks will sign with her former employer WWE’s rival promotion, AEW, in the upcoming months. However, as much as fans are waiting for her to return to the US, it looks like even the AEW CEO himself is waiting to make that happen even more.

When asked about her during the post-media scrum, he confessed she would be a great addition to his roster, as she is unbelievably skilled and talented. He said, “She was at AEW All In and it was great having her as a part of the show. I have a ton of respect for Mercedes Moné. We’d love to have her anytime in AEW.”

“She’s had great experience also, with our partner New Japan Pro Wrestling, so she would be a great addition to AEW, anytime, and we’d always love to have her here. I have a ton of respect for her and have had great conversations with her and I think the world of her,” he added.

Furthermore, he pointed out the significance of the AEW’s connection with NJPW in potentially facilitating her introduction to his promotion. As of now, she has been out of action for months following her ankle injury.

As soon as Banks entered Japan, she became a sensation in the country. Soon she established her dominance by winning the IWGP Women’s Championship at Battle in the Valley on February 18, 2023, after beating Kairi Sane. She held the title for a while and reigned over the women’s division.

However, trouble in paradise struck when she got injured. At Resurgence in May, she injured herself while executing a dangerous high-flying move, resulting in her suffering a broken ankle. Since then, she has made multiple appearances on TV, but only as an audience member.
