The All-Elite supremacy is back following a perked-up Dynamite episode. Reports had previously indicated that at the concluding hour of tonight’s show, the first top ten spots for the returning AEW rankings will be revealed. And it’s finally here. Khan’s latest tweet carries the top rankers as it marked a massive revival after CM Punk disapproved of the system in the past.

Tony Khan revealed the first AEW rankings since 2022 as promised

Since AEW’s inception, the company has published a ranking list to give shout-outs to their contenders and to inspire them to do better. However, in September 2022, AEW scrapped the ranking practice, severing their connection to championship contention. Later, CM Punk emerged as the primary culprit behind this nixed tradition.

This year, Samoa Joe, Timeless Toni Storm, Julia Hart, Ricky Starks Big Bill, etc, etched their place in the rankings due to their stature as champions. The reintroduction of the system attracted plaudits from the pro wrestling realm.

Despite Khan’s elation in bringing the ranking system back to the fray, some wrestling moguls, including a fierce AEW critic see it in a different light.

Eric Bischoff made his stance clear on the reintegration of the AEW Rankings

There’s been brewing discussion in the wrestling realm since Khan announced the revival of AEW’s rankings a week back.

Bryan Alvarez, an ex-wrestler, and co-host of the Bryan & Vinny Show has already set the stage for the topic to stir discussions revealing some top-secret information on this matter. In a shell-shocking statement, he claimed Punk had prompted AEW head honcho Tony Khan to make a decisive change in the practices of AEW. The topic revolved around dismissing the annual ranking of the talents. Now, given Khan finally overturned the policy and reintroduced the practice, one of his biggest critics, Eric Bischoff, outlined his stance.

Evaluating the two contradicting sides of the decision, Bischoff noted,“It can be effective. It can also see you painting yourself into a corner that you’ll never get out of. That’s probably why it didn’t work out the first time because you’ve got to really do a great job of merging creative and math because those two things generally don’t go together. Usually good creative is kind of void of good math. Good math isn’t very creative, but it can be done.”

The WWE Hall of Famer also warned the AEW head honcho about the risk factor involved in this move. He reflected on how fans could turn on the promotion, losing their faith in the rankings if its legitimacy comes into question.
