Sentiments Overflow in AEW as Mark Briscoe Shares a Touching Moment With Jay Briscoe’s Family During Tribute to the Late Star

The tragic passing of a beloved wrestler is something that the wrestling universe cannot forget easily. This is especially true if said wrestler left a mark on the industry that cannot be replaced. That happened to be the case with the Briscoe Brothers in ROH. The beloved brothers suffered a tragedy last year, and today marked the one-year death anniversary of it.

Jamin Pugh a.k.a. Jay Briscoe tragically passed away in a car accident in 2023, and on his death anniversary, his brother paid a special tribute along with Jay’s children.

Mark Briscoe ensures Dem Boyz will be forever in AEW

Everyone going into tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite knew it would be emotional. Today marks the one-year death anniversary of Jay Briscoe. One half of ‘Dem Boyz,’ The Briscoe Brothers, the former tag champions, left in tag team wrestling with their unorthodox wrestling style and their incredible workrate.

Greeting the South Carolina crowd Mark opened up by talking about how it was one year since his brother’s passing. This got the ‘Dem Boyz’ chants started. He went on to mention how his nieces were in the car at the time. Mark explained how the doctors said that his older niece would not be able to walk again.

Mark then called out all of Jay’s children, including the niece that doctors claimed would never walk. The crowd gave a huge round of applause. The applause from the audience was for his niece who made her way through the entrance walking on her own two feet. Mark hugged the kids while a tribute video package played.

The video package was a tribute to the legacy of Jay Briscoe. His journey from the start to his last match in AEW. His brother Jay has kept the legacy of the Briscoe Brothers going strong. The AEW audience always chants the ‘Dem Boyz’ slogan whenever he wrestles in the memory and honor of his brother.

Mark Briscoe’s current storyline in AEW and achievements

Since the passing of his brother, Jay has continued to wrestle in AEW. Despite not having a tag team partner and not gunning for any title, he’s kept a strong face. The audience always cheers for him as they did for both brothers.

Mark Briscoe was inducted into the ROH Hall of Fame in 2022. Both have always played the underdogs due to their wrestling style and gained a strong fanbase after working in other promotions.
