The return of Mercedes Mone f.k.a. Sasha Banks to the American pro wrestling scene has left fans in jubilation. While many thought she would return to WWE after departing back in 2022, she instead decided to join AEW. She made her AEW debut at Big Business on March 13, 2024. While there has been quite a discussion about her return, one thing that no one can shake off is that her new theme song sounds quite familiar. Well, Ice Cube’s son and actor, O’Shea Jackson Jr. might have an answer to it.

Did Tony Khan rip off Mercedes Mone’s new theme song?

Actor, rapper, and wrestling commentator, O’Shea Jackson Jr. posted a clip from WWE’s NXT UK days. In the clip, Pete Dune could be seen standing in the ring with the championship belt in his hand. Just as he was showing off his belt, Walter, who now goes by Gunther entered the arena. However, if you pay close attention to Walter’s theme music, you will realize it is almost identical to Mone’s new theme song.

The only difference between the two theme songs is that Mone’s is a remix of Dvorak’s symphony no. 9 . While Walter’s theme is kind of menacing because he is a heel, Mone’s music is a bit upbeat, adding a cheer to the arena. Along with that, Mone’s theme song had the echoes of “CEO” in it. It could be considered that this would be her new moniker from here on as opposed to the Boss from WWE.

Back in February, Banks had teased that she is done working on her AEW debut promo work. She then tweeted “Oh it feels good when executing a vision.” a few days after the rumors started doing the rounds.

However, one thing that everyone missed out is the fact that Banks had already dropped the hint of her new moniker almost two months ago. And sadly, no one was able to get it.

The C.E.O. was born

Just a day before the New Year’s Eve, Mone tweeted a picture of her which looked photoshopped. However, along with that elegant photo she wrote the caption, “He asked what my favorite position was… I said CEO.” While this line is often times used to denote that a woman is ambitious about her career, who knew she would have revealed her new moniker.

It was reported that AEW was trying to pursue Mone for quite some time. However, she was unable to join due to an injury. During this time, Khan decided to change his strategy a bit and instead decided to sign her and let her take her time to make her debut. It could be assumed that the deal happened around the same time when Mone tweeted the CEO post. However, all things aside, do you think Mercedes Mone and Tony Khan copied Walter’s theme?
