The first episode of AEW’s Collision for 2024 saw Adam Copeland issue an open challenge. While this is not unusual, he met someone who showed potential before hitting Copeland with the ultimate disrespect. How did Copeland handle the situation? In the most Copeland way possible.
Copeland recently won the TNT Title from Christian Cage, who used Killswitch’s shot at the title to win it back on the same night. Fans were expecting the two to get into an altercation after AEW Dynamite, but that is yet to come.

As Copeland issued his open challenge, fans thought it would be Christian Cage and his team who would answer it. However, out came Maria Kanellis with Griff Garrison and Cole Karter. Garrison was the one to accept the challenge, looking to beat the WWE Hall of Famer. Despite being praised by Copeland and being compared to his younger self, Garrison had something else in mind.

As Copeland praised him for taking the opportunity, Garrison slapped Copeland. However, Copeland even praised this move before Garrison pushed him to start the match. The match was entertaining but one-sided as Copeland had control, showing his experience and in-ring awareness over Garrison’s enthusiasm.
Despite Kanellis and Karter trying to distract Copeland, he was still able to win with a cross-face submission on Garrison. However, once the match ended, Karter tried to sneak attack the veteran and paid for it with a spear. While this was a good build-up, Garrison fans were expecting Cage to answer the open challenge.

The future between Copeland and Cage
Copeland and Cage have been at it since Copeland debuted in AEW. With the former WWE star looking to rekindle his friendship with his real-life friend in the new company, Cage was not that enthusiastic. After humiliating Copeland, the two got into a feud that fans have been enjoying.
The feud came to a blowout at AEW’s Worlds End, where Copeland won the TNT title off Cage. However, Killswitch had won a shot at the title earlier that night and gave it to Cage to win his title back. Copeland was left beaten and bruised, which showed during this match.
