AEW Big Business really lived up to its namesake. Not only did it put all the titles on the line but it also had the most anticipated debut of the year. Sasha Banks who earned her name in the WWE and NJPW, debuted as Mercedes Mone at the start of the show. This was something that was speculated without confirmation for weeks ahead of the show. While Mone’s choice of AEW over the WWE may have disappointed some fans, the number for her debut should be concerning.

Mercedes Mone’s debut in AEW generates lower numbers than CM Punk and Adam Copeland’s debut

While fans were excited to see Mone debut in AEW as her new character, some wanted the stats. These were for how many views she gained across all social media. This includes all of AEW’s social media handles, including Facebook, X, Instagram, etc. The numbers that came out were shocking when compared to the hype around her prior to her debut. These numbers were also compared to two other wrestlers when they debuted in AEW, CM Punk and Adam Copeland.

According to the post by EliteRockerz 𝕏, Mone’s debut gained around 8 million views across all social media platforms. This, when compared to CM Punk and Adam Copeland who gained 46 and 27 respectively, is very disappointing. Weeks before her debut the social media buzz was at an all-time high. However, now that she has debuted, the numbers speak for themselves.

Despite the AEW doing their best to keep her debut a secret, fans knew Mone was debuting. Ever since Tony Khan revealed the AEW Big Business graphic, fans knew it. Many fans also voiced their concern that her debut was lackluster and bland. A major reason for this is the fact that she has yet to be medically cleared to wrestle.

Wrestling fans react to lackluster debut numbers of Mone

Once the post was up, many fans found it harsh to compare her to the likes of Punk or Copeland who have had years in the business. However, many didn’t see why she was being made into such a big deal. While the CEO is now in AEW and ready to begin her first feud, here are the top fan reactions.
