“Looked Like Hornswoggle Carrying Khali”: CM Punk Gets Blacklisted by AEW Fans After Struggling at AEW Collision

CM Punk is a master orator. The ‘Best In The World’ superstar is a magician in the ring, both as a wrestler and while cutting intense promos. However, even the best can have their off days and get their fair share of detractors criticizing them. This is exactly what Punk had to endure recently in AEW.

On social media fans went after Punk for his outfit and his weak execution of the GTS during the latest edition of AEW Collision.

CM Punk botches big time

There is no denying Punk is one of the biggest box office stars for AEW. The superstar sets the ticket sales ringing, and he is one of the primary reasons that AEW has achieved blockbuster attendance for their upcoming show in Wembley. 

With fans expecting Punk to face off against Samoa Joe, Punk accepted the challenge in a unique way. The segment which took place at the beginning of the show saw Punk dressed as a luchador jobber with a mask. 

He later attacked Joe by giving him the GTS, sending him crashing to the floor, and accepting Joe’s challenge of facing him at All In next week. Unfortunately, due to Joe’s size, it was evidently difficult for Punk to lift him up, leaving him gassed out. While the effort was innovative, it received a lukewarm response from fans.

Despite the criticism, fans are extremely thrilled to witness two wrestling greats putting it all out there next week.

The superstars who have battled from their days in the Ring of Honour (ROH), would look to steal the show. But for now, social media has expressed its disapproval. 

“Gee, That Sucked” Fans Lambast Punk at AEW

This isn’t the first time Punk came under controversy from fans. Recently, his debate about being the ‘Real AEW Champion’ also came under scrutiny from fans. Nonetheless, fans went in on him on both Instagram and Twitter.

On Instagram, Punk received flak for his wrestling outfit beyond belief, with most people calling it pathetic.

“Weak ahhhhh punk, barely got Joe up & barely got Joe down. This the dude y’all love to love?”

“That outfit is as ridiculous as watching Punk throw a punch. Just Terribly wtf and hilariously sad. Lmao”

“Damm, this is Pathetic”

The trolling didn’t stop there as fans trolled him on Twitter for his weak GTS and being exhausted after just one move.

His outfit received criticism from people comparing his outfit to a killer bee as well, due to its color. And one fan even compared him to WWE’s Hornswoggle, for not being able to lift Joe.

While AEW fans trolled Punk, there is no denying he can turn things around in a matter of time. With AEW All In coming up next week, CM Punk would look to correct the perception by delivering a high-quality match against his rival, Samoa Joe, for the ‘Real World Title’.
