Before All Elite Wrestling became the biggest competitor to WWE, another promotion almost stood neck to neck with Vince McMahon’s brainchild; however, it no longer exists. And it is none other than World Championship Wrestling. One of the major reasons behind its success was the creative genius and decisions made by Eric Bischoff. Though the promotion does not exist anymore, the success of AEW sure reminds people of the bygone days of WCW. And interestingly, Eric Bischoff has been one of the biggest critics of the Tony Khan-run promotion.

So when the Jinder Mahal-Tony Khan online feud ensued, it opened a Pandora’s box. One, that landed Bischoff in troubled waters with constant accusations of being jealous over not being hired by Khan. And now he has come out with an answer. Let’s find out the details.

In a recent episode of his ’83 Weeks’ podcast, Eric Bischoff was joined by Condran Thompson. They discussed all the controversy surrounding Bischoff, the accusations of him being jealous of Tony Khan, and being sour about the fact that he allegedly wasn’t hired by AEW.

Mentioning how he is tired of these rumors, the 68-year-old said, “I get exhausted seeing some of those comments: ‘Oh he’s just a hater’, ‘He wants it to fail, he’s jealous’ and the one that makes me laugh the most is ‘Oh he’s just upset because Tony KH wouldn’t give him a job’. I thank the Lord every day that I don’t have to go to work for a guy like Tony Khan.”

On this note, Thompson brought up a clip by AEW’s Dax from a different interview. There, Dax claimed that many critics of AEW actually just wanted to be a part of it but couldn’t. Thus, the hate parade. Though he did not mention Bischoff specifically, it sure would make many relate it to the former vice president of WCW.
“There’s a couple of podcasters out there that bury AEW, that that would love a job with Tony. There’s one or two that wouldn’t but I know there’s quite a few that glowingly talked about AEW initially and when Tony didn’t give them a job, now, all of a sudden they’re talking crap about it.”

Thompson followed it up by asking Bischoff to clarify if he ever asked the promotion or Khan to give him a gig or book him. To this, the 68-year-old simply replied, “No, no, no, no, no, it’s never happened.”

While speaking on the ‘Strictly Business’ podcast, Eric Bischoff revealed that he earlier had a lot of respect for the AEW president, but it was one particular moment that changed his perspective toward him. And that was when Tony Khan disrespected Ted Turner, the owner of WCW.

Bischoff revealed, “When someone who I have a ton of respect for, that deserves even more than I can give? When that person is disrespected by somebody, it bothers me more. And when Tony Khan came out and said, ‘If Ted Turner knew 1% about wrestling as I do, WCW would still be around.’ It was such a fundamentally ignorant statement — and by that I mean no knowledge, no experience. That’s the definition of ignorance, right? I’m not using it derisively.”
