CM Punk has been in the news quite a lot after his firing from AEW. The controversial wrestler has had a history of a fair few suspensions and expulsions from the promotions he’s worked under. In 2014, he was served his termination papers from WWE on his wedding day. His recent AEW firing isn’t looking too good for him either

While the wrestler has made bold claims stating he would never return to WWE, other doors may be closing for him as well. Especially if we go by what one ex-WWE producer recently said about the disgraced wrestler.

The last time CM Punk faced disciplinary action was in 2022 when he was suspended from AEW and stripped of his title for getting into a backstage brawl. This time around he got fired thanks to an altercation with Jack Perry right before his title match at All In. Punk has had a history of being pretty hot-headed right from his early wrestling days back in 2003. One incident that stands out was when he got into a scuffle with a fellow wrestler right outside a restaurant while with Ring of Honor.

Fast forward to 2023 and we are yet to hear from Punk post his AEW firing. However, this hasn’t stopped ex-WWE employees from voicing out their opinions on him. One such ex-employee is actor and former WWE producer Freddie Prinze Jr.

Prinze Jr. worked with the promotion from 2008 to 2012 in various roles, his last being that of a producer. On a recent episode of his podcast Wrestling with Freddie, he talked about wanting to start a wrestling promotion. However, an interesting tidbit that he revealed was that most wrestlers said that they didn’t want Punk involved.

“I hate to sound cold and brutal like that but I’ve talked about the federation that I want to start here and I’ve spoken to professional wrestlers and said ‘Hey man, you would be down to help me out if I’m doing this?’. I’m not joking. Every single wrestler that I reached out to but one, said ‘Anything you need I would love to help you just don’t hire Phil (CM Punk)’,” he said.

It’s really sad that a superstar who is so beloved by his fans is detested by his own colleagues. The actor and former producer also gave what he believed was the reason most didn’t want to work with Punk.

Full of pride and ego

Freddie Prinze Jr. has had his fair share of working with wrestlers in the WWE. He is well aware of the tantrums they throw when it comes to learning the lines for their promos. Speaking on his podcast, he said that Punk has issues with ego and pride. He said, “But this is a goddamn shame, and when ego and pride are dictating the decisions you make, you can accomplish great things. But you are more than likely, even with your success, going to implode and get destroyed at some point.”

Only time will tell if Punk ever changes his aggressive attitude when he joins another wrestling promotion.
