AEW got even more exciting as ‘The Rated R Superstar’ Edge just joined the promotion. What’s even more gratifying is that we will see Edge, now known as Adam Copeland, every week on AEW. He started off by first appearing on Collision this Saturday night. As he addressed the excited fans, Edge personally thanked a close friend for helping him out in his early wrestling days. Who could it be?

This WWE legend is the same person who once got Dwayne Johnson signed to the WWE.

Edge made his debut in WWE on RAW in 1998. He then went on to be part of the brand for 25 glorious years. His 25th anniversary was celebrated in style on SmackDown in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario. Edge worked hard to reach this prestigious stage in his career. But things have not always been easy for ‘The Rated R Superstar’.

His single mother cared for him. Edge faced financial problems due to which he had to take a student loan to go to college. WWE signing him allowed him to pay off the debt. Legendary Hall of Famer Jim Ross played a key part in signing the star.

On last Saturday’s Collision, Edge noticed Jim Ross in the same commentator’s seat that he had seen him for the past so many years. He went on to thank Ross for helping him pay off his college debt. He said, “I’m looking down there and I’m seeing JR. That man first signed me to a contract, I’ll never forget it. Paid my college debt. I’m forever in debt to you, sir.”

JR acknowledged Edge’s gratitude by giving him a heartfelt thumbs up, which the fans cheered upon. Similarly, Ross played a big role in getting WWE to sign Dwayne Johnson. ‘DJ’ was cut from the Calvary Stampeders and had just $7 in his pocket. Ross got Johnson a $100,000 deal with the famous wrestling promotion. Though Vince McMahon questioned this decision, Jim Ross was confident he made the right call.

Both Edge and Johnson turned out to be superstars in WWE. Now, Edge has already etched his beginnings in AEW by choosing to engage with his former best friend Christian. The feud has further intensified after recent developments at AEW Dynamite.

Despite enduring tasteless remarks from Christian Cage, Edge clinched victory against Luchasaurus

The last time Edge was seen in action in the WWE ring was at his 25th anniversary celebration on SmackDown. He wrestled his close mate, Sheamus, and emerged victorious that night. He capped off an amazing WWE career by partaking in a high-stakes affair in his hometown. Ultimately, the Rated R Superstar chose to represent AEW in the next stage of his career. What better way to make a grand entry than confronting his real best friend Christian Cage?

The former WWE star made a scintillating AEW debut at the WrestleDream PPV as he confronted Christian Cage and dished out punishment to his stable members. In the aftermath of the affair, Edge, now known by his real name Adam Copeland, was set to clash against the 6 foot 5 inches phenom, Luchasaurus for his in-ring debut.

However, he was subject to emotional turmoil as his best friend, Christian, launched a tirade of verbal attacks against his wife and children prior to the bout. Nevertheless, Copeland battled adversity in order to emerge victorious via a spear on Luchasaurus. Trouble soon followed after the joyous moment as Nick Wayne attacked Copeland.

Fellow WWE alumni and TNT title challenger to Cage, Brian Danielson came out to make the save for Edge. Total chaos ensued soon after, with Hangman Page, Blackpool Combat Club, and Mogul Embassy making their presence known shortly after.

Only time will tell how the engaging storyline proceeds further. Nevertheless, one thing is clear. Wrestling fans wouldn’t have gotten to witness the glory of Edge if it weren’t for the iconic commentators’ help. What do you make of JR’s contribution to Edge’s wrestling career?
