Recently, ESPN featured CM Punk in an interview. The former two-time AEW World Champion talked about several things. Also, he gave some insights on what really happened with him and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page.

As Punk said in this interview, their promo on May 25, 2022, to build their match was a shoot by Page. Hangman went out of the way upon what they had agreed to say on the mic. Punk was worried that Hangman could actually try to hurt him in the match.

Punk said, “And I proceed to have what I think is a garbage match because I’m trying to protect myself on stuff instead of actually just working and trying to put on the best performance I can. I’m keeping an eye out. He chopped me in the mouth one time, and I’m just like, ‘OK, did you do that on purpose?’”

He added, “You chip my tooth, and I’m like, ‘All right, should I give him a receipt?’ It changes the dynamic. It poisoned everything for me, and it made it all really, really ugly, and that was what set all of this off, and here we are over a year later and ain’t s— been done about it.”

According to the 44-year-old Page did this because he thought Punk “had AEW wrestler and coach Colt Cabana fired from the company, or at least tried to.” Nevertheless, the former WWE star beat Page to win the AEW title on May 29, 2022, at Double or Nothing.

What did Adam Page say in the promo?

Days before CM Punk won his first AEW World Championship by defeating Adam Page, they had a face-off on Dynamite. While Punk said things as they had decided, Page went out of the way, as mentioned in the ESPN interview.
