The most anticipated segment of the night arrived as the main event of tonight’s SmackDown episode. Finally, after the WWE WrestleMania XL Kickoff show, Dwyane Johnson, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins were in the ring together. After being hyped up for a week and even during this episode, fans could not wait. However, while each man spat fire during the encounter, The Rock suffered a botch while addressing one AEW star’s credentials.

Dwayne Johnson fast-tracked the Undertaker’s Goldust claim

The segment started with Rhodes questioning Johnson’s authority to even issue the Tag Team match for WrestleMania XL, considering he isn’t even the Tribal Chief. This heated things up as Johnson lashed out at Rhodes, claiming he acknowledged Reigns as the Tribal Chief because he is family. This led to Rollins verbally bashing Johnson before The Rock retargeted Rhodes.

The Rock addressed Rhodes’ family, including his father, sister, and even his brother, Goldust. He started with Dusty Rhodes, who he claimed was his idol. Then he said, “Isn’t it true that you’re the youngest of three? And isn’t it true that your sister was a cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys?” Following this was when Johnson had the slip-up.

Bringing up Dustin Rhodes, he said, “Isn’t it true that your brother is a Hall of Famer… future Hall of Famer?” This was a massive botch by Johnson, who quickly corrected himself. But The Rock kept going, adding, “And you’re 20 years younger than your siblings. Is that right? You know why? Because you were a mistake.” Rhodes couldn’t stand there and just listen after this, and he did precisely what Johnson did to him at the Kickoff show. Cody Rhodes slapped Dwayne Johnson.

A month ago, Rhodes chose to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 in the main event. A back and forth between them led to Reigns calling Rhodes an embarrassment “just like your dad.” But then, Rhodes brought The Rock into the picture as well, claiming that their families would be ashamed of Reigns. That’s when Johnson stepped in and slapped Rhodes.

Coming back to The Rock’s slip-up, Dustin Rhodes is Cody’s half-brother and the son of Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes. He had five runs in the WWE and one in NXT. Since 2019, he has been working in AEW. However, with his work in the WWE, he is most likely in line to follow in his father’s Hall of Famer status. And, well, per the Undertaker, “Absolutely. 100%… [Dustin Rhodes’] resume is Hall of Fame worthy.”

Cody Rhodes’ slap may have been the talking point of the entire show. But apart from his Goldust botch, Dwayne Johnson made another striking remark tonight.

The Rock established his authority as a TKO Board member

One aspect of his career that Johnson has never brought up in promos with Rhodes is his TKO Board member role. However, on tonight’s episode, he said, “The Rock is a Director of the Board of TKO, which means it owns the WWE, which means he’s your boss.”

This line was aimed at both Rhodes and Rollins, which has excited fans. The last time Johnson showed his authority, Triple H quickly shut it down with a promo. Could this lead to the Triple H and The Rock feud fans have been speculating about? Could we finally get something before WrestleMania XL? What are your thoughts on it? Tell us in the comments.
