For weeks, AEW’s Kenny Omega had teased a memorable encounter with Will Ospreay. At Wrestle Kingdom 17, Omega had stripped the NJPW star of his IWGP United States Championship. So, this encounter was a grudge match and according to some fans, lived up to the expectations.
Both Omega and Ospreay pushed each other to the limit, fighting for over half an hour. After successfully negating each other’s moves, one emerged victorious. Who was it?

A growing feature about AEW matches have been the use of color (blood). The bout featuring the two stars from the two promotions was no different. This was the second Forbidden Door, a joint wrestling PPV organized by Japan’s NJPW and USA’s AEW. The event took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada on June 25.
As mentioned earlier, Omega, the local hero, had won the title from Ospreay during their last encounter in Japan. This time, the British wrestler had a chance to get even, and he did. But it was hard work. The match lasted for 39 minutes and 50 seconds. Both the wrestlers overcame each other’s moves, including Omega kicking out at one after being hit by a ‘one-winged angel’.
The finisher used by Ospreay is one of Omega’s own moves, which, when used on an opponent, has never been kicked out before. That theory went for a toss as Omega sprung back to action.
Seeing the local wrestler doing the unthinkable, the crowd went wild, both inside the arena and on the internet. However, Ospreay was able to have the last laugh. After using a screwdriver to spill his opponent’s blood, Ospreay used a combination to pin Omega and take the win, and the belt.
Despite the loss, Omega’s kick-out at one was the high point of the match and caught the attention of some fans.

Imagine a move so impactful that no one has ever dared to break free of it. However, in an ironic twist, it fails to overwhelm the creator! Now you might be wondering, is it a good move or is it a bad one? That is exactly what fans did on social media.

There’s no doubt that it created a huge pop as Omega kicked out at one. Former WWE superstar Summer Rae, who last appeared for one night at the 2022 Royal Rumble, feared for her “poor neighbors” while watching the match.
😫😫😫😫😫 my poor neighbors after hearing me watching this!

But the hype didn’t catch on with some fans.
So Kenny's finisher is garbage and doesn't work?

The duration of the match and the negation of the moves weren’t ideal for some fans.
It was good at first but they went too long and did every move without selling like no one can beat this guys now.
