The 2023 pro wrestling merchandise sales and rankings report for both WWE and AEW is out. According to it, several former AEW stars outperformed some of the top names in the Stamford-based company like Roman ReignsLA Knight, and many more.

Wrestlenomics released the report recently, which specifically emphasized the fact that the metrics are estimates and do not accurately depict actual sales. It was also pointed out that the reverse rank value metric doesn’t reflect sales, but instead represents the popularity of a wrestler’s merchandise.

CM Punk dominates the pro wrestling e-commerce sales

Former AEW star CM Punk, who recently returned to WWE in November 2023, is on the top of the pro wrestling eCommerce merchandise rankings for AEW and WWE stars for 2023 for selling the most on Pro Wrestling Tees.

The former ROH World Champion late Jay Briscoe and former AEW Champion MJF came in second and third position, respectively, followed by AEW star Danhausen in fourth and inaugural AEW World Trios Champion Kenny Omega in fifth place.

Cody Rhodes tops WWE apparel sales

In WWE’s list of top apparel categories, Cody Rhodes (who was also an AEW star once) had the highest reverse rank of 59,845. LA Knight followed him in the second with a reverse rank of 39,956. The third, fourth, and fifth spots were grabbed by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, John Cena, and Roman Reigns with reverse rank values of 38,416, 35,980, and 34,179, respectively.

The top-selling apparel item on WWEShop.com was a black nWo retro t-shirt, with an estimated reverse rank value of 13,423. Rhea Ripley‘s men’s black “She’s My Mami” t-shirt was the second top-selling apparel item on the website.

Under AEW’s top-ranked category, the company itself was at the top of the list with 86,077 reverse rank value. The second on the list was ‘The Second City Saint’ with 64,729. The Acclaimed, Orange Cassidy, and The Elite followed for the third, fourth, and fifth positive, respectively.

The Acclaimed’s “Scissor Me Daddy A**” T-shirt has taken the number one spot with a whopping 20,840 purchases in AEW’s top items list. On the other hand, Punk’s “Best in the World” ringer T-shirt has also been a hit with AEW fans. The T-shirt has sold 20,196 units, securing the second spot on the list.
