“B***d = Money”: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson & Cody Rhodes’ Backstage Fight Praised by WWE Hall of Famer but Tony Khan’s AEW Subtly Criticized for Same Reason

During the latest edition of Monday Night Raw, Dwayne Johnson promised Cody Rhodes that he would make him bleed at the start of the show. Minutes before the end of the event, The Rock made good on his promise by intervening in the middle of the confrontation between ‘The American Nightmare’ and Solo Sikoa. He hit the former with various objects. And then took him to the parking lot of the show’s venue to make him bleed.

This segment has garnered a lot of praise from fans and critics alike. One such fan of the segment is Bully Ray. He praised the WWE while taking a dig at Tony Khan’s AEW.

Taking to Twitter, Bully Ray retweeted a tweet by the WWE, which features the aforementioned segment. Praising the gore, Bully reminded fans that blood only fit segments with the right elements, such as time, story, and talent. He wrote the quote from his appearance the BustedOpenRadio, as the caption. “When done at the right time, with the right story, and the right talent, with a definitive end result in mind… 🩸= 💵 When done for no good reason and gratuitously, it means absolutely nothing @BustedOpenRadio”

The latter half of the tweet seems to be a dig at Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling. Bully Ray has often been critical of AEW’s over-reliance on blood and gore. So much so that they incorporate the element at unnecessary spots and matches. One such match that drew major criticisms was Darby Allin‘s spot at AEW Revolution.

Darby Allin risks it all

At Revolution, AEW fans witnessed one of the wildest spots that occurred not only in the short history of AEW but of pro wrestling in its entire history. Darby Allin performed a Swanton Bomb on a glass panel placed on some chairs. Falling flat on his back and causing endless cuts that left him inactive for much of the fight. And the moment generated quite a bit of discussion.

And one of the biggest critics of the spot has been Dave Scherer, a journalist for PW Insider. Sharing his point of view in a recent publication, he revealed that he thinks Darby Allin wishes for death. However, All Elite Wrestling claimed they had a Plan B with a different ending in case Allin couldn’t return to the match. Something that ultimately turned out to be nothing more than a precaution. Also, once it was determined that Allin would make the ladder jump through the glass, safety measures were applied.

A rehearsal was conducted earlier than usual. A stunt coordinator gave instructions on how to place the objects and went over the proper protocols. There were also doctors nearby who anticipated the scene and were on high alert. And if Darby hadn’t been able to return to the match, the Young Bucks were prepared to adapt to an alternate ending.
