Tony Khan is facing the heat. Following his comments on WWE, he has received some backlash from fans. To further twist the narrative, an interview with a former AEW star has resurfaced and the pro wrestler did not speak highly of Khan‘s creative decisions.

Brian Pillman Jr., who is known by his WWE ring name Lexis King, opened up about his time under Tony Khan at AEW. The star highlighted what the promotion did for his career that he failed to accomplish during his time at AEW.

Talking with Chris Van Vliet, King talked about his time at AEW. He stated, “I’ve spent so many years at my previous company just second guessing ‘Am I really any good? Am I really worth it?” According to him, his AEW days were just full of dark matches and sitting at the “back.” However, he feels his career has done a “total 180” after joining WWE NXT. The 31-year-old star mentioned that now he gets to have an entrance and a throne all to himself.

King performed at AEW under his original name Brian Pillman Jr since the company’s inception. He was featured on various episodes of AEW’s different brands during a time when he was not able to perform at Major League Wrestling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was announced back in July 2023 by PW Insider that Pillman had a tryout at WWE’s Performance Center. After a month, it was announced that he had been signed by WWE for the developmental brand, NXT.

How was Lexis King’s promo dark?

Right before his debut, WWE aired a promo featuring Lexis King. Fans were immediately caught off guard by how dark and moving the promo was. Few people are aware that King is the son of legendary ECW and WWF star late Brian Pillman. King was just four years old when his father passed away at the age of 35 due to a heart attack. In King’s promos, fans saw him talking and denouncing his family lineage as he wanted to make a name for himself.

While he has lost two out of three matches that he has been featured in, King has been able to establish himself as a dominating heel at NXT. Currently, he is involved in a storyline with Carmello Hayes and Trick Williams. Do you think King would had a fulfilling career at AEW if only Tony Khan made better decisions?
