John Cena is one of those stars who has been around the longest with WWE. Spanning a career of almost two decades, the star has worked with plenty of talents from the promotion. With AEW’s recent surge in popularity, many WWE alumni have decided to make a shift to the rival promotion. But that does not mean that their names are erased from the Stanford-based promotion.
During last week’s episode of SmackDown, John Cena accidentally name-dropped the name of a WWE alumni who is now with AEW. Needless to say, the now AEW star decided to respond to his name being refereed at a rival promotion.

During the promo at the 10/28 episode of SmackDown, John Cena accidentally dropped former WWE star Taz’s name. Taz who is now with AEW, quickly noticed that he was being referred to at the promotion. So, to show John Cena that he can do the same thing, he tweeted, “U can’t see me.” It happens to be Cena’s iconic catchphrase and is often used to refer to him.

In last week’s episode of SmackDown, John Cena and Solo Sikoa were in a banter ahead of their bout at the Crown Jewel. Cena who happened to have a low-raspy voice due to Sikoa’s Samoan Spike decided to show the Bloodline member his mic skills. The Leader of the Cenation openly called out Sikoa “Bargain basement Taz rip-off”. This statement elicited Taz’s response and looks like he took it humorously.

A few days before John Cena gave a shout-out to Taz, he was called out by Taz himself at an episode of AEW. During a match for the title of AEW Women’s World Championship title, the ringside commentators had to make an announcement about America’s favorite fail show, Wipeout. Excalibur mentioned that the latest episode of Wipeout will be hosted by the SmackDown star, along with comedian and actress Nicole Byer.
After hearing the 46-year-old star’s name, Taz immediately responded, “I know that guy”. Excalibur decided to take it a step further by saying, “His name is John Cena” referring to the star’s theme song. However, this is not the first time fans noticed John Cena during the airing of AEW. Something similar had happened during the infamous WWE vs AEW clash that happened a few weeks ago.
