The latest word around the town is that Mercedes Mone a.k.a Sasha Banks is rumored to be making her debut at AEW. Over the last few weeks, reports have linked Banks with a return to WWE, a debut in AEW, and even staying put in NJPW, the promotion she joined last year. While fans are still arguing about what might happen next, AEW’s latest recruit has teased her potential arrival that might leave the internet buzzing for a few more days.

The free agent status of a star like Banks is bound to spark interest. WWE were heavily linked before rumored talks between the two parties stalled, paving the way for AEW to possibly make their move for “The Boss”.

AEW’s latest recruit and promotion’s glamor icon, Mariah May, tweeted a post on her X (formerly Twitter) account. She posted a picture in which May could be seen on the monitors of a stadium in which AEW recently held their show. However, what caught fans’ attention was the caption on the post, May wrote, “sky is the limit.” What makes this quote so special is the fact that Banks’ theme song during her time at WWE was titled the same.

On the other hand, it could also be assumed that the star is sharing that there is still a lot more to achieve for her. May made her debut on the November 8 episode of AEW Dynamite. She was introduced as a fan of the “Timeless” Toni Storm who was super eager to meet her.

Banks making her debut in Tony Khan’s promotion might not come as a surprise to many. In the past, many high-profile released WWE stars have made their debuts at AEW. This includes the likes of CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and more recently The R-rated superstar, Edge. The chances of the former RAW Women’s Champion appearing in AEW have been enhanced ever since it was reported that talks between her and her former employers have hit a roadblock.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer talks between Banks and WWE have hit a snag due to significant disagreements over financial terms. Earlier Fightful reported that Banks’ asking price is more than what Charlotte Flair will make on her new WWE contract. Flair signed her new deal several months ago, and it is believed to be one of the highest-paying deals ever for a female wrestler.

It is likely that Banks may not be aware of what Flair is making, but her demands seem to have put off WWE. Interestingly, the CM Punk to WWE deal happened despite what was rumored to be a contract breakdown, so there is always a chance of WWE renewing their interest in their former star. Banks has also teased fans where she could show up next. She recently shared a photo on Instagram with Triple H in the background on a poster.
