AEW Collision aired live from the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Being the first episode of Collision for 2024, they lined the match card up with some splendid matches. Sting, Eddie Kingston, Christian Cage, and many more were set to make an appearance. Here is everything that went down on the first episode of AEW Collision 2024.

AEW Collision 6/01/2024 Recap and Results

The first episode of AEW Collision started with Ric Flair making his way to the ring. The Nature Boy received a massive pop while the commentary team put over his career and relation to the area.

Sting with Darby Allin vs. The Workhorsemen

Winner: Sting and Darby Allin

The first match of the night featured the icon Sting and Darby Allin taking on Anthony Henry and JD Drake. The match started even before the bell rang. Flair helped out his buddy Sting with a few Chops to Drake. The match was fast-paced and got the fans excited with an entertaining performance. After a Scorpion Death Drop by Sting, the duo picked up the win.

Eddie Kingston vs. Trent Beretta for the Continental championship match

Winner: Eddie Kingston

The first title match on the first episode of AEW Collision in 2024 was for the Continental Championship. The two men started by trading blows. Beretta’s mother was seen in the front row for her son’s title match. Both men had each other’s number and had some near-fall spots. The match was brutal as Beretta began to bleed in front of his mother. The match came to an end when Kingston hit the Northern Lights Bomb for the pinfall.

Backstage segment: Tony Schiavone interviewed Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander. The two said that they were excited for 2024 and wanted to make the year bigger and better than the last.

Komander and Bryan Keith vs. The Undisputed Kingdom

Winner: The Undisputed Kingdom

This was a Proving Grounds match. If the challengers could beat the champs or end the match in a draw, they would receive a title shot. The Kingdom kept control of the match by isolating Keith. Things took a turn after the hot-tag to Komander. Despite their best effort, The Kingdom took them out before the time ran out.

Backstage segment: Renee Paquette interviews the Bullet Club Gold. Paquette asked about their relationship with The Acclaimed. Before they could answer, the trio appeared and said it was none of their business and that they would handle The Undisputed Kingdom.

In-ring segment: Adam Copeland comes out to the ring and issues an open challenge for anyone. Maria Kanellis comes out with Griff Garrison and Cole Karter. Garrison accepts the challenge and demands that Copeland show him respect. While Copeland tries to make Garrison understand the gravity of the situation, he gets slapped by Garrison, leading to the match starting.

Adam Copeland vs. Griff Garrison

Winner: Adam Copeland

The match began and stayed in Copeland’s favor. While setting up for the spear, Kanellis and Karter got involved, giving Garrison an opening. However, Copeland turned the tables and picked up the win after a cross-face on Garrison.

Post-match: After winning, Copeland was attacked by Karter. However, Copeland fended him off with a spear to stand tall after the match.

Backstage promo: We get a backstage promo by Sting, Ric Flair, and Darby Allin. The trio talk about their next stop at Greensboro before hitting up Jacksonville. This is where Sting made his return to AEW to reunite with Allin. Sting brought his retro-style energy to the promo, which was entertaining to see.

Skye Blue vs. Kiera Hogan

Winner: Sky Blue

The first and only female match of the night featured Sky Blue and Kiera Hogan. While both women did not hold back and countered each other perfectly, Blue was the one walking away with the victory. The match was short but showcased both women brilliantly.

Video package: We get a video promo for Serena Deeb, who is set to make her return. During the video, she claims to be a professor of professional wrestling.

Claudio Castagnoli vs. Andrew Everett

Winner: Claudio Castagnoli

Fan favorite Claudio Castagnoli went against Andrew Everett for the second last match of the night. The match was completely one-sided, with Castagnoli keeping the upper hand for most of the match. After multiple hits in the ring, Castagnoli chased Everett on the outside, leading to an uppercut. Bringing him back into the ring, Castagnoli performed the Giant Swing, which the audience loved. Everett got a bit of offensive near the end, but after a failed shooting star press, Castagnoli picked up the win via pinfall.

Backstage segment: Ricky Starks talks about returning to Daily’s Place as the champion. He claims to be excited for his first singles match against Sammy Guevara. Big Bill talks about defending the titles against Guevara and Chris Jericho at Battle of the Belts.

Main Event: House of Black vs. FTR

Winner: FTR

A match filled with mind games was the main event of the night. The tension between Harwood and Malakai Black was on full display, with Black scaring some children while sitting ringside. While the men in the ring were brilliant, Black’s mind games on Harwood and his family emerged as an interesting point.

FTR had their hands full while protecting their family and dealing with the House of Black. Black pulled off a brilliant moonsault mid-match. The entire match showcased Black’s in-ring awareness throughout to keep it in their favor. Wheeler was the sole man in the majority of the match. Hardwood finally got the tag and took out both men of the House of Black.

The main event gained “This is awesome” chants with an explosive ending, with all four men laying it all on the ring. There was brilliant storytelling. Daniel Garcia came out to aid FTR. After a quick encounter with Buddy Matthews, Harwood picked up the pin.

Post-match: The House of Black attacked all three men, including Garcia. Sending a message, Black hit a spinning kick on Harwood. The show ended with FTR laid out in the ring.
