About Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2022: News, Schedule, Roster, Score, Injury Report

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers joined the NFL for the 1976 season, along with the Seattle Seahawks. The franchise went winless in its debut and is one of two teams to not register a single win over the course of a regular season. However, as it was their debut year, fans looked past this as the team had to settle down.

They started off in the AFC before joining the NFC where they won their first football games only towards the end of their second season. The statistic makes their divisional triumph in the 3rd season that much more astounding.

In 2020, the franchise signed free agent quarterback Tom Brady. The signing bolstered their squad, and in the eyes of analysts, it would serve as the missing link between a strong team and a unit that could make it to the postseason. Another new signing was a 3-time Super Bowl-winning tight end, Rob Gronkowski.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished the 2019 season in 2nd place with a 7-9 record. They play in one of the most stacked divisions in the NFL alongside the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Atlanta Falcons.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Owner Achievements

The Glazer family serves as the owners of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Malcolm Glazer purchased the club 25 years ago ahead of the 1995 NFL season. It was under the Glazers that the franchise ended its 18-season divisional title drought and 15-year postseason drought.

In the 3rd season of their new owners, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers left the Tampa Stadium and settled at the newly constructed Raymond James Stadium.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Achievements

The Buccaneers have claimed 1 Super Bowl win. They beat the Oakland Raiders to conclude the 2002 NFL season. The 2002 season also marked Tampa Bay’s only NFC Championship victory to date.

The franchise has claimed its divisional title 3 times. The first of these came in its 3rd season in professional football. They achieved sporadic success winning their NFC East division just 2 more times before the turn of the millennium. Tampa Bay Buccaneers built on their Super Bowl success and won the NFC South two more times in 2005 and 2007.

The Florida-based outfit has made it to the NFL post-season on 10 occasions but is yet to advance in over 13 seasons.

The Bucs rounded off their 2020 regular season with an 11-5 record and placed second in the NFC South. They went on to win the Wild Card Playoffs at Washington with a 31-23 finish.

They finally actualized their post-season blues with a run in the 2020 season. They are primed to take on the New Orleans Saints on their home turf after losing to them twice in the regular season.

Logo

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have remained true to their name and incorporated it into their logos right from their inception. The franchise’s first logo from 1976 to 1996 featured a character dressed as a buccaneer with a dagger in his mouth. The colors of orange and red blended to form the design.

Ahed of the 1996 NFL season, Tampa Bay Buccaneers opted for a logo with the pirate ship staple from popular culture. It featured a flag with rips in strategic places and the trademark skull and crossbones. At the intersection of the crossbones, the designers left an orange football.

The logo structure has remained, with only the colors changing on a couple of occasions. First, the franchise lightened the maroon flag to make it red and eliminated the rips on the flag. The color of the football was lightened. Ahead of the 2020 NFL season, the franchise opted for a darker logo, which is reminiscent of the 1996 to 2013 version.

Every single version of their logo has stayed true to their team colors of red, orange, and black.
