Women’s professional basketball is taking the world by storm. The New York Liberty won their first round matchup by beating the Washington Mystics. Several celebrities and sports personalities were present to witness the collision of talent at Barclays Arena. NBA and New York legend Carmelo Anthony, alongside his son Kiyan, were also present to support their favorite players.

It was a big moment for the Liberty. After getting eliminated in the first round over the last two years, the team showed up big to continue their title hopes. The match saw several stars including Malala Yousafzai, tennis star Billie Jean King and more in attendance. Following the home win, Carmelo Anthony exchanged a few words with Breanna Stewart, New York’s star player. It was an iconic moment where generations of basketball greatness came together to celebrate a city.

New York Liberty vs. Washington Mystics
The 2018 WNBA MVP’s determination and skills were the highlights of the game. Stewart tallied 29 points and 9 rebounds. After beating the Washington Mystics in a 90-85 overtime win, New York is headed for the semi-finals.
This ends their 8 year drought of reaching the final four.
Alongside Stewart, Jones was nothing short of a spectacle. She scored 19 points and 14 rebounds. A truly mesmerizing game that propelled the Liberty toward victory.
