American sports have seen a ton of changes to their rules over the years. While the NBA seemingly gets “softer” with each passing year, the NFL is not much different. Earlier, tackling a quarterback was a regular play. These days, it’s an automatic penalty. While it has improved the viewing experience, making the game smoother and faster, former players aren’t huge fans. Dissing the current game because it isn’t as physical as the old days is a common statement from older players. With a strong media presence, and being the host of a basketball show, Shaquille O’Neal voices the same opinion frequently.

As Netflix launched its in-depth look at the NFL life, Quarterback, his son, Myles had some frustrations of his own.

The NFL has always been a cultural phenomenon. It’s no surprise that the Super Bowl weekend is as close to a national holiday as it gets. Whether it be celebrities or major movie productions, everyone looks forward to the weekend as a source to expand their brand. Every year, without fail, Hollywood has special Super Bowl trailers ready for the event. So, a partnership between Netflix and the NFL came as no surprise.

That it was spearheaded by the man with the most MVPs in league history, Peyton Manning, made the deal that much sweeter. The two giants paired up for an in-depth look at the life of an NFL quarterback, something the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts legend is all too familiar with. The series features three primary namesakes – Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes, the Minnesota Vikings’ Kirk Cousins, and the Atlanta Falcons’ Marcus Mariota.

While the series is a first-of-its-kind look at a quarterback’s mental and physical hurdles, it already has a critic. O’Neal’s millionaire son, Myles, who spent the weekend partying in Vegas, isn’t a huge fan of the cast of the production. Calling them boring, the DJ cum model voiced his criticisms on threads.

He wrote, “Netflix put 3 quarterbacks with the most boring personalities on this damn show.” Days after Shaq’s own comments bashing the league, it seems like the O’Neal family isn’t wholly thrilled about America’s favorite sport.

Shaquille O’Neal bashes NFL’s softness

Years ago, the life of an NFL player was extremely harsh. Media and fan criticisms aside, the sport itself was a tremendous challenge. 300-pound linemen bulldozing QBs was a common occurrence. However, there has been an obvious shift in the paradigm.

The way the QBs are tackled is much more limited these days, thereby making a safer environment for guys like Mahomes. Shaquille O’Neal voiced the same opinions himself, calling the league sensitive. While Shaq has often mocked the NBA for its softer playstyle, it seems like the NFL isn’t bereft of the criticism.
