The Next Round podcast hosted Charles Barkley on its September 27 episode and it got a little wild from there. After the episode, Chuck was due to head to Alabama where the Auburn University football team is playing against Georgia this weekend. Both Barkley and the hosts were going to make an appearance at a party for the Tigers on Friday. That’s when the hosts brought up the local business Barkley is supporting.

In 2022, the 1993 NBA MVP took the reins of Redmont Vodka, a Birmingham-based small-batch spirit maker. While it’s not as big as Michael Jordan‘s tequila brand, recording around $5 million in revenue, it stems from Barkley’s personal desire to make his hometown economy thrive.

The Next Round has a new partnership to operate within the Atlanta Hawks‘ State Farm Arena. . The chuffed new business owner wanted to partake in the success with the hosts. Since the hosts and Barkley will party in Auburn on Friday, Barkley made it a BYOB event and took charge but with a little disclaimer.

Let’s try not to drink up all the profits.”

He nonetheless made the “executive decision” that he will call in a favor with the Redmont’s exclusive distiller so each of them could have a bottle of Redmont of their own at the party. That’s already a generous offer. The game is on Sunday. But the hosts thought Barkley’s offer extended to Saturday.

The Round Mound of Rebound was quick to correct, “No that’s just for Friday night.”

He after doesn’t want to run the business dry after all.

Barkley has come a long way from alcohol struggles. He drew a hard line at a bottle each on Friday only as, “it’s a lot of hours in the day.

He probably had war flashbacks to when military veterans out-drank him. The Next Round hosts brought up that Redmont Vodka is gluten-free to which Barkley said gluten-free is something, “made up in California, like being vegan.

Jokes apart, Redmont’s signature vodka is corn-based and distilled eight times, making it truly gluten-free unlike wheat, barley or rye-based spirits.
