While franchise records might not hold as much weight as NBA-wide records, they are still an important distinction. In essence, they work as hallmarks for the influence a particular player had on their team. Further, it can also serve as a testament to the length and strength of their tenure. Due to the big-name additions and off-season turnaround, the Celts feel like a completely new team. However, that does a disservice to the already impressive core present in Bean Town. With the likes of Kristaps Porzingis?and Jrue Holiday joining the fray, one name has severely gone down the pecking order.
Due to the focus on Jayson Tatum and Mr. $300 million himself Jaylen Brown, it is Al Horford who finds himself holding the short end of the stick. However, Horford’s impact and contribution to the team cannot be dismissed.
His leadership, veteran instincts, and defensive prowess remain invaluable aspects of the team’s success. But there is a different record that Horford is aiming for tonight. In his 7th season with Boston through 2 stints, Horford has been the team’s defensive anchor for a vast majority of the team.

With a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, KG’s old team no less, the fates were perfectly aligned. However, with Minnesota running a double-big lineup with Rudy Gobert and Karl Anthony Towns, offensive rebounds were hard to come by. A euphoric start for Boston
With the myriad of moves throughout the NBA offseason, there was a ton of debate about which team would separate themselves at the top. Between the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns going through dramatic changes, Boston finding a balance between continuity and overhaul might be their key to success.
Through 2 weeks, they were the only team without a loss. However, that changed tonight as Boston suffered their first defeat of the season despite good performances from Tatum, Brown, and Porzingis. The Celtics will look to bounce back in their next game on Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers. That one could surely turn out to be a blockbuster.
