One of the spectacular duos of the league is Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. Together, they led the Boston Celtics to the promised land in 2008. If not everyone, the Los Angeles Lakers surely remember being brutally beaten by the Celtics in the Finals. However, in 2013, The Truth was traded to Brooklyn alongside Garnett and Jason Terry. While he hoped to have things go smoothly under the leadership of his friend, soon his hope was crushed.
The Brooklyn Nets’ former coach once had the opportunity to play alongside Garnett in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney Australia. During his playing days in the NBA, he shared a great friendship with both Garnett and Pierce. But as a coach, he had different plans.

During the new episode of ‘Ticket and Truth,’ the duo sat to share another intriguing tale of their career. Among many things, the former teammates spoke about the famous Celtics and Nets trade deal. After spending years with the Boston Celtics, the duo hoped for a smooth transition in Brooklyn. After all, the coach also happened to be their friend, Jason Kidd.
But the Brooklyn Nets and the 50-year-old coach Kidd were aiming for the championship that year. He did not betray his friends but placed them under strict practice. At their age, both of them struggled to keep up with Kidd’s routine.
Both the legends shared their hilarious opinion on their situation. The clip from their show is shared on Garnett’s IG story.
Pierce stated, “Man, we got to training camp, I’m like, ‘J, what the f*ck is this sh*t?’ Man, he had us running. He had us on the line, and I must have gave him some cool evil stares. I was like, ‘come on, J.'”

Was this the worst NBA trade deal?
While Garnett and Pierce were the star players in the league, they were not able not to win the championship.
It was one of the strategic deals by Danny Ainge, the former Celtics president. However, the Nets gave up too many valuable draft first-round picks. Ultimately, Pierce was traded in 2014, Garnett left the team in 2015 and Kidd was fired after one season.
