Millions of fans consider Michael Jordan the GOAT of basketball. Furthermore, he is also considered unbeatable one-on-one. So it is no surprise that no one could fathom someone who did not even start any basketball games in college beating the 6x NBA champion. A lot of fans and analysts thought LaVar Ball was making such comments for “clout”. And if that’s the case, it did bring him massive popularity.

Nonetheless, LaVar always maintained that he firmly believed he could beat Jordan because of his size advantage. On the other hand, he also made good use of the massive spotlight on him. It gave his children much required publicity. Furthermore, it also gave rise to the Big Baller Brand.

However, it was not all sunshine and rainbows. He received major criticism from analysts and some set of fans as well. Notably, LaVar locked horns with stars like Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Stephen A. Smith.

Beef with Charles Barkley

The beef between Charles Barkley and LaVar Ball started after LaVar’s comments about his oldest son, Lonzo Ball before he entered the league. Notably, LaVar claimed that Lonzo would be better than superstar Stephen Curry. This did not sit well with Barkley who called it “stupidity”. Chuck would even claim that LaVar was taking advantage of his sons to make his own business.

Ever since the Hall of Famer’s remarks, the two have been going at each other. LaVar poked fun at Barkley for not winning a title during his NBA career.

So the Philadelphia 76ers legend talked about LaVar’s 2-point average in college basketball and claimed he would beat him despite his age and weight.

Ball responded by making fun of Barkley’s weight and eating habits. According to a report from Bleacher Report, he said, “I know he don’t want to play one-on-one because he’s too big. He better stay behind that TNT thing … and eat them doughnuts.”

It is no secret that Shaquille O’Neal is a very close friend of Barkley. So it did not take the Los Angeles Lakers legend much time to jump in either.

Feud with Shaquille O’Neal and Stephen A. Smith

Shaquille O’Neal was not a fan of LaVar Ball’s comments. Things started heating up when the 4x NBA champion also criticized LaVar for the highly-priced products of the Big Baller Brand.

Notably, Shaq canceled his huge contract with Reebok to provide affordable shoes to children. LaVar did not let it slide. When he was asked about it, he claimed that his sons, Lonzo and Lamelo, would dominate Shaq’s sons, Shareef and Shaqir, in a game of two-on-two.

Incredibly, the back-and-forth between the two reached an all-time high when Shaquille O’Neal released a LaVar Ball diss track.

However, O’Neal still gave props to LaVar for how he raised his children in the rap song. Despite this, LaVar came back strong. Ball stated that Shaq used his name for popularity as per Bleacher Report.

LaVar has multiple times appeared on Stephen A. Smith’s show as well. More often than not, the show would end up as a shouting matchup between the two.

Over the years, both have jawed at each other and it is still continuing. Notably, Smith recently claimed that Lonzo’s injury was so bad that he couldn’t even get up from a sitting position. A few hours later, Lonzo released a video clip of him and accused the analyst of spreading fake news.
