Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker has established himself as one of the best scorers in the league. After years of mediocrity, Booker led the Suns to its first NBA Finals in almost three decades in 2021. With the likes of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal joining Booker, Phoenix is the favorite to win it all next season. However, that is not the only thing the Suns fans will be looking forward to. The $2.7 billion worth franchise recently made a massive announcement about commemorating two of the best players in Phoenix history. Even Booker gave the update a sign of approval.

Jersey retirement is one of the most revered traditions in American sports. It gives credence to the star’s contributions to a particular franchise. Recently, it was revealed that the Phoenix Suns are set to retire two more numbers in honor of two of the best players in franchise history.

Shawn Marion and Amar’e Stoudemire will enter the rafters next season. Marion was a power forward who was nicknamed the Matrix and brought an immense amount of honor to the city of Phoenix through his effortless defensive capabilities. On the other hand, Amar’e Stoudemire won the Rookie of the Year award in 2003 and was a 6x All-Star.

The two of them were part of one of the most fruitful spells in franchise history, along with Steve Nash. Marion and Stoudemire were key pieces of a team that reached 3 Conference Finals in a span of 6 years. Booker was convinced the duo deserved to get their jerseys hanged.

The 26-year-old is well on his way to having his jersey up there with the likes of Marion and Stoudemire as well. Booker is not leaving any stone unturned as he’s preparing for the next season at full speed. He was recently spotted with Kevin Durant throwing some hoops in preparation for the next season.

The Phoenix Suns weren’t able to do much as the Denver Nuggets ran rampant in the Western Conference Finals last season. The Suns came up short in the series despite having two of the best offensive assets in the league in Durant and Booker.

In order to fill in the holes in their game, the duo was spotted shooting some balls drenched in sweat in Kendal GL Issacs Gymnasium in the picturesque country of the Bahamas. It’ll be interesting to see whether the Suns can live up to the expectations next year.
