Trae Young was recently ejected from the game against the Denver Nuggets. This happened after Ice-Cool Trae got into a heated verbal battle with the referees. Following the incident, his ex-teammate Lou Williams discussed it on the Run It Back show where he said that the 25-year-old is heavily misunderstood.

Ejections are unfortunately becoming a norm in the league. As per Williams, such incidents on court have led to people misunderstanding intentions, especially for the Atlanta Hawks. The 37-year-old said that Young needs to be the bigger man and just focus on the ultimate goal for his franchise.

Williams said that this has become a part of his reputation in the league. Having played alongside Young with the Hawks, the ex-NBA star knows that he has much more to offer than what he has been doing already. Williams said, “I’ve shared the locker room with Trae [Young], I know how passionate he is about basketball. I know how passionate he is about winning.” The 37-year-old said that he needs to turn the page on such incidents and focus on leading his team forward. “His reputation gets misunderstood because of things like this,” Williams added.

The Hawks are currently in the 10th position on the Eastern Conference chart with a record of 9-13. They’re on a four-game losing streak so this is the time when their star player will be needed the most. During their last game against the Nuggets, Young was ejected after he got into an argument with the referees. The argument started because Young was handed his second technical foul in the third quarter with only 24 seconds left on the clock.

Poor officiating is slowly becoming a norm in the league, especially in the last few years. There have been several instances where the refs have made massive blunders, at the cost of the game at hand.

If you read it from the headlines, it might seem like it was Young’s irrational behavior that got him taken out. However, the actual picture tells a different story. It all started with Peyton Watson’s contact with the All-Star being ignored by the refs, which infuriated the 25-year-old. Soon, when a pair of free throws were being shot by the Nuggets, Young approached referee Brent Haskill with his issue.

After arguing with the referee, a few claps from Young led to him being thrown out of the game. The Hawks’ head coach Quin Snyder was also handed a technical for reacting to the absurdity from the referee. This series of horrible refereeing has led to several games being ruined for the players and the fans. The sad thing is, it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon.
