Michael Jordan‘s game-worn memorabilia is one of the most prized items in the sporting world. Jordan’s relics go up for sale for record amounts. A 25-year-old American tennis star, who proclaimed his love for MJ’s world-famous sneakers, was recently spotted with a Boston Celtics legend after his first-round victory at the US Open last night. Interestingly, this former Celtics star once became a victim of the 6x NBA champion’s greatness.

Everyone wants to get their hands on the latest pair of sneakers released by Air Jordan. The brand is now worth a massive $5 billion in valuation. The Jordan brand has found itself a fan in a major tennis star who is aiming to become the first American men’s player to win the US Open since Andy Roddick two decades ago.

Tennis star spotted with Michael Jordan’s former rival

Frances Tiafoe is a rising tennis star who is currently the 10th seed in the world. He famously won the Delray Beach Open in 2018, becoming the youngest American man to win the tournament since 2002. Tiafoe also professed his love for the Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro recently and revealed how he could never part ways with them.

He said, “But you can?t go wrong with a pair of Jordan 1s; you?re always solid with those”. The 2022 US Open Semi-finalist was recently spotted making a conversation with one of the biggest basketball personalities of all time.

In a post shared by ESPN, Tiafoe could be seen conversing with NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett. While it was a bit unclear what the two sporting personalities were talking about, the tone of the conversation was pretty intense, which could have been identified by the body language of Garnett and Tiafoe.

There is a good chance that Tiafoe might be picking Garnett’s brain as The Big Ticket was a mentality monster. As good as Garnett was, he was still no match for Jordan’s greatness, though. He once regretted talking down Michael Jordan in a pickup game.

Kevin Garnett once reminisced on a time when he was getting the better of Michael Jordan in a game with SI. But Garnett made the grave mistake of talking trash to the ten-time scoring champion. Garnett said, “I caught him. He was going two dribbles coming up left, and he was trying to reject baseline. So I played the middle. I said ?Man, if he do this s*** again, I?ma pick this s***.”

It didn’t take long for MJ to avenge the humiliation as on the very next possession Jordan got KG back. Kevin said, “Real story, the next time down, M called the same play. Bones, this is real life. I was in front of the n*****. I was right in front of him. And I blinked, dog, and when my eyes opened, the n**** was at the cup (mimicking a layup).”
