The pressure 19-year-old Tennis sensation Coco Gauff faced was not easy. With the entire nation rooting for her, the Florida native did not disappoint as she earned her first-ever major title at such a young age. The US Open victory was not just historic, but also emotional for Gauff. Especially for her father. Gauff threw some light on her bonding with her dad after the win, which led Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson to pen an emotional note for their family. 

The grand slam winner also exposed her “tough” father’s weak side, which made him feel embarrassed in front of a huge mob.

The toughness displayed by Gauff in this tournament was inherited from her dad. 52-year-old Corey Gauff’s only desire was to see his daughter win a grand slam on home soil. The hunt for this started nearly a decade ago. A video of Coco Gauff watching a game between Venus Williams and Serena Williams at the US Open when she was 8 continues to go viral on the internet.

Corey Gauff is known for his tough character. However, when his 19-year-old daughter brought fame to the nation single-handedly, Gauff Sr. couldn’t control the tears. The young champion took this opportunity to mock her dad in front of an electric crowd as laughter burst out.

Magic Johnson, who had high hopes, took the time to appreciate the Gauff family for such a big achievement. The 5x NBA champion shared on ‘X’, ” Congratulations to @CocoGauff for beating Aryna Sabalenka and winning the U.S. Open!!! Kudos to her parents Corey and Candi, they’ve done an outstanding job!

The nation was indeed happy to see a new home champion after 6 long years.

How did Coco Gauff embarrass her dad after the grand slam win? 

Gauff started off her winning speech by thanking her parents. She added, “Today was the first time I’ve ever seen my dad cry,” as Corey Gauff signaled his daughter to cut the speech off.
