Startled By The Capture Of “Super Humbling” Moment, Tennis Star Frances Tiafoe Gushes About NBA Legend’s US Open Cameo

The most awaited tennis tournament in the United States of America is here. All of America, including NBA stars, are eagerly anticipating the US Open. From Jimmy Butler taking part in the celebrity match to an NBA legend attending a game, the excitement is palpable.

The Boston Celtics legend graced his presence in the first-round match of Frances Tiafoe. An internet uproar was generated by the NBA champion’s public display of affection for the sport and the 25-year-old player. Tiafoe, in the post-match interview, gushes about the “super humbling” moment of seeing the NBA legend in attendance.

A supportive sports enthusiast: Kevin Garnett’s fandom

After his retirement in 2016, Kevin Garnett dabbled a lot in many other sports. With his investments in e-sports, the Basketball star has also shown interest in many other sports. “The Big Ticket” often attends various sporting events to root for his favorite player/team. 

Garnett was recently spotted at the US Open supporting fellow countryman Frances Tiafoe. Garnett attended the US Open match between Tiafoe and the 17-year-old Learner Tien at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. Tiafoe recorded a scintillating win within three sets, qualifying him for the next round.

During the press conference, they ought to ask Tiafoe what having Kevin Garnett in attendance means to him, to which he replied, “Want to see me, want to meet me, it’s cool. Some of that is super humbling. Obviously, Big Ticket is a legend, so seeing him was super cool. He sent me a funny voicemail before the tournament. It’s cool he’s able to come out here.”

Tiafoe embraced and appreciated the attendance of many players from different sporting backgrounds. He brought to light on the influence these athletes have on their followers, which may encourage individuals of color to take up tennis.

“Diversity in sport speaks volumes. Obviously, it has people tune into the game that usually wouldn’t. He’s one of them, and many others. I have to keep winning so they stay interested. Obviously, I want to impact a lot of people of color to want to pursue the game of tennis.”

The players, along with some celebrities, played a charity exhibition match ahead of the start of the highly anticipated US Open tennis tournament in the US. The match-up was between some of the big names in the US, including the Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, who was dressed up as a ball-boy.

However, Alcaraz and Yatra emerged victorious in a close game that went up to a tie-break set.
