10 Years After Peddling With America’s Funniest, 55 Pound Lighter Shaquille O’Neal Is a Proud Owner of a 36” Beast

Everything Shaquille O’Neal does is larger-than-life. Even when he bikes around. It’s well known that the NBA champion has to get a lot of things customized to his 7’1″ frame. Now he has a monstrosity that fits him while he’s on a fitness kick. Expect Shaquille O’Neal to cruise about the neighborhood in his new bicycle made especially for him. Interestingly, he had a big bicycle escapade a decade ago.

Shaq collaborated with one of the funniest comedic stars for an epic commercial. It ranks among the best commercial O’Neal has ever done thanks to his co-star and a very large bike.

Gone are the days when a pre-fame Shaquille O’Neal struggled to fit his ginormous frame everywhere. The multi-million multi-hyphenate now customizes everything to fit his frame – from his home to his cars. He’s got a ‘Big Diesel-esque’ remodeled motorhome and a motorcycle custom-built just for him.

But it’s his newest set of wheels that has everyone’s attention. And they aren’t attached to another Rolls Royce. This time, O’Neal has added a new custom-built mountain bike to his fleet.

The Shaq-style customization includes 36-inch wheels, about seven inches more in standard wheel diameter. Dubbed ‘The Thomson Beast,’ this is a special gesture for the NBA on TNT panelist by mountain bike brand, Thomson.

It’s no coincidence that the manufacturer made a 36″ monstrosity for O’Neal. The retired pro happens to be the next-door neighbor of the COO of Thomson. He noticed Shaq’s regular bike was worn out and had the Thomson engineers create the Beast just for him.

The bike is a perfect size for him and suits his needs. Especially since he’s on a major fitness path. But even after shedding the pounds, Shaq has not shrunk to regular bike size as we saw 10 years ago.

O’Neal is in better shape than he was when he won his first NBA championship with a lot of hard work. He’s shed 55 pounds by his estimate and still working on getting fitter. A new functioning bicycle only makes it better.

His previously bicycle was pretty famous too. It was made by Dirty Sixer, a manufacturer that builds 36″ bicycles for tall riders. Shaq was not only a proud customer of it for a decade, but he also promoted it.

Shaq collaborated with actress and stand-up star, Wanda Sykes for a commercial for American Express a decade ago. He rode tandem with Sykes on a custom Dirty Sixer giant bike to clash with the Monster-In-Law star’s pink and petite side.

Shaq’s Dirty Sixer served him loyally for a long time. He’s now moved on to the Thomson Beast. But fans contend it looks pretty normal-sized when Shaquille O’Neal rides it.
