Woe to those who don’t appreciate the acting greatness of Shaquille O’Neal. The NBA legend, savvy entrepreneur, and music marvel is also a legit entertainer. He’s not only in every second commercial, but Big Diesel has an impressive acting resume to boast about. Shaq has kept his skills sharp with some cameo roles since making his debut on the big screen in the ’90s. He posted a little reminder of one of his funniest roles to date.

If there’s one place you’ll find actor Shaq, it is an Adam Sandler movie. The comedic titan is known for keeping his deck of friends close through his casting choices. Now O’Neal is reliving his best cameo in an Adam Sandler movie.

Shaquille O’Neal is not growing up

In the wee hours of the morning, Shaquille O’Neal surprised his Instagram followers with an unexpected post. The clip appears to be a behind-the-scenes clip of the big man himself on the sets of Grown Ups 2. By popular demand, Adam Sandler brought the sequel in 2013, three years after the first one. Shaq missed the casting then, but not in this one.

Shaq’s little throwback post features his co-actor, Peter Dante, also a regular feature of Sandler movies. The duo memorably played cops in the multi-starrer. In this old clip, the duo are chanting a freestyle theme song of their character names, Dante and Flazoo. The NBA legend captioned the post, “dante and flazoo.”

A little refresher: O’Neal put on half a wig to play Officer Fluzoo (as the movie credits spell it), the brother of Tim Meadows’ character. Fluzoo ambushes Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, and David Spade in a supermarket parking lot before breaking into freestyle song there too. Officer Dante the spoilsport interrupts their party.

It appears that Officer Dante wasn’t such a party pooper behind the scenes. It looked like he was leading the a cappella jam session in the squad car.

Moreover, in the same movie, Adam Sandler was held at gunpoint by Officer Shaq after Sandler admitted of stealing a bus. Fans needed this little reminder to rewatch it, at least for Big Diesel. A decade ago, the consensus on his acting was that it was just Shaq being Shaq.

O’Neal goes way back with Sandler. The actor is an avid NBA fan and regular courtside seat occupant. A casual off court chat with Shaq turned into cameos in Hubie Halloween, Blended, and Jack and Jill.

Officer Fluzoo may be fictional, but Big Aristotle is a real cop. Having been fascinated with the folks in blue since he was a child, the 7feet 1 took a step towards it in 2005. He was sworn in as a reserve officer in Miami and was also a reserve in Los Angeles Port Police. His honorary job pays him a token salary of $1 every year.

He’s not in it for the money but the cool factor. He got to live that and show of his acting chops simultaneously recently with real cops. Officer Big Diesel was called upon to fill the Los Angeles Port Police recruitment video this month.

It goes to prove that Shaquille O’Neal can pull off a uniformed character any time of the day. It’s why we’re going to rewatch Grown Ups 2.
