Teary-Eyed Michael Jordan Helplessly Gazed at 5x Grammy Award Winner?s Ballad in Resurfaced 2003 Clip

Music has the power to move people. Finding yourself within a song, a story written by someone else is an everyday thing for listeners. Even the greats are not unknown to the impact of music. In fact, music is one of the biggest motivators for an athlete, right before the game or if they’re stuck somewhere. A recently resurfaced clip depicts the same story, involving the great Michael Jordan.

Jordan is a big music buff, we’ve seen his love for the art form in The Last Dance documentary. In a resurfaced clip, the Chicago Bulls legend is seen shedding tears while a five-time Grammy Award winner takes over the arena with her voice.

When Michael Jordan got teary-eyed

The man had a god-like stature when he was active in the league. “Be like Mike” wasn’t just a marketing campaign, it represented the sentiments of the country towards the Bulls legend. Everybody was indeed trying to be like him. However, there were times when his human side was more visible than the invincible athlete. Jordan showed emotions. He cried, he yelled, and he celebrated his wins like he had conquered the world. In one such showcase of emotions, an old clip shows the Washington Wizards Jordan get teary-eyed over an enthralling performance by one of the finest singers ever.

The clip of Mariah Carey singing during the 2003 NBA All-Star halftime break was posted on Instagram. The 54-year-old performed R&B/Soul hit Hero, in her majestic voice, grabbing the attention of everyone in the arena. While Mariah performed her magic on the stage, Jordan got emotional and can be seen in the clip with his eyes full of tears.

When he realized that the camera was focusing on him, an emotional Jordan tried to look away, in order to hide his tears. One fan in the comments said “he was probably thinking about his dad,” which could be true. After all, his father was his true hero.

Jordan has had a very strong bond with music and has shown his affection toward his favorite artists on numerous occasions.

Popular R&B singer Kenny Lattimore recently talked about meeting His Airness for the first time. Unaware of the amount of love Jordan had for him, Lattimore was blown away by the way he was received by the NBA legend. The noted artist then went on to reveal that when MJ met him for the first time, he had a very specific demand. The 6x NBA champion asked Lattimore to perform his song Forever for him and his friend.

Of course, Lattimore obliged him with a performance but was unable to soak the moment as he couldn’t believe that the great Michael Jordan just asked him to perform one of his lesser-known classics.
