With the 2023-2024 NBA season less than a month away, the NBA community is already picking their favourites for the upcoming season. As a number of league-defining trades took place in the last two weeks, the NBA teams and players seem ready to compete for the coveted NBA title.

As a reaction to a recent Instagram post, NBA legend Kevin Garnett disdained the Laker trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves.

Kevin Garnett shows Disdain for current Lakers Trio

In a recent Instagram story, Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett calls out the Los Angeles Lakers trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves. In the Instagram story, 7 feet NBA legend responds to an Instagram post by “ballislife”. The “ballislife” Instagram post shows four new trios of player-combos in NBA teams, after the player trades, which happened in the last few weeks.

The “ballislife” post showed four NBA trios: (i) Zion Williamson, Brendon Ingram and CJ McCollum for the New Orleans Pelicans; (ii) Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kris Middleton and Damian Lillard for Milwaukee Bucks; (iii) Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves and LeBron James for the Los Angeles Lakers; (iv) Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal for the Phoenix Suns.

Kevin “Big Ticket” Garnett reacted to this post on his story. He said, “Man stop this pls…This Laker big 3 shouldn’t be up here..Cmmmm on man.. Stopppp!! Damn.”. He further says in his post, “Noooo he’s not..”. This last comment of the NBA Hall of Famer was a direct jab at Austin Reave’s role in this ‘Laker Big 3’.

Only time will tell whether his opinion on this current Laker trio is correct. The Boston Celtics legend has always been outspoken in his opinions regarding the NBA.

When Kevin Garnett called out the NBA’s “standard”

In his 21-year-long career, many consider Kevin Garnett’s NBA career to be one of the most decorated careers for an NBA ‘big’. In an episode of his podcast “KGcertified”, the ‘Big Ticket’ unleashed some brutal truths about the league. The NBA Hall of Famer along with Paul Pierce, his legendary former Boston Celtics teammate, talked about the monetary value of the NBA.

KG said in the episode, “Don’t nobody know you dawg?” as he openly ‘attacks’ the league as the NBA league is a team sport. He further mentioned that initially (during his playing days) it was about winning championships. He states that in today’s NBA, players come into the league and work for individual recognition. He gave the example of Anthony Davis’ first extension in the NBA.
