NFL Star Richard Sherman has recently returned to the limelight. Regarded as one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time, the 35-year-old has taken time off professional football to pursue a career in broadcast network. Sherman joined Skip Bayless’s controversial show Undisputed. Earlier this year, Skip’s long time co-host and football legend Shannon Sharpe called it quits to team up with ESPN. Now, Bayless’ new sparring partner is making waves with his hot take about the “brother” of Kobe Bryant.

Sherman’s recent remarks about a new addition to the 2020 NBA championship team has created a ruckus.

Richard Sherman compares 27YO to Kobe’s teammate Pau Gasol

27-year-old power forward Christian Wood was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday as part of a two year, $5.7 million deal. Touching base on the subject, the former NFL player stated his excitement over what he anticipates could come next. Despite his opinion that “people forget to shoot” once they get a chance to play for the Lakers, Sherman hopes that Wood will be a different case.

“This is huge Skip, regardless of how they use him,” said Sherman during the discussion. “If they start him and let A.D. (Anthony Davis) play the 4, I’m sure A.D. would be ecstatic about that.”

The former Seattle Seahawks player then proceeded to make a comparison that caught the attention of most of the viewers. He brought up former Lakers star Pau Gasol’s name as a way to highlight how far the UNLV alum can go.

“During his (Gasol) Lakers career, he average 18 to 9 or 18 and 10. This boy (Wood) coming in is averaging 18 to 9 over the past three years,” Sherman added during the conversation. “I don’t understand how we got him for this price.”

Notably, Gasol won two championships with The Black Mamba. Several fans consider him to be the second star that Kobe needed to get one in front of Shaquille O’Neal.

The 35 year old Super Bowl Champion has barely been in his co-host position for two weeks and he is already making headlines over his remarks.

Fans share their reaction on the controversial take

Pau Gasol is one of the most beloved figures amongst the circles of past Los Angeles Lakers players. His prowess on the court as well as his friendship with Kobe Bryant is something that fans talk about even to this day.

Therefore, it didn’t bode well for people when Sherman placed Wood on the same level as the Hall of Famer.

From comments like “Stop nfl players from talking basketball please” and “Sherman needs to stick to football. This is awful”, many twitter users didn’t agree with the fact that Sherman should be allowed to comment on rosters related to the NBA.

Other people expressed their displeasure through remarks like “This take should be punishable by up to 2 years in prison”, “Come on man”, “Who thought this was a good idea”, “That’s an absurd take” and so on.

Some didn’t attack Sherman directly but instead chose to criticize ‘Undisputed’ itself. They wrote comments like “This shows so washed”, “Worst show of all time”.

Several comments expressed dissatisfaction with the current roster of Bayless’ show.
