Splurging Millions for Immersive Technology, Shaquille O’Neal Admits to Being Trapped in a Maze of His Own Words

Big Diesel spared no expense to feel like a child again and is giving others a chance to channel their inner children too. Shaquille O’Neal added another attraction to the Las Vegas landscape that’s nothing like he’s done before. He’s given a rare glimpse into this immersive experience while letting his larger-than-life persona shine. Big Diesel played Willy Wonka on a tour of his dynamically curated otherworldly venture.

One of the features of this new attraction screams Shaq. It’s so deep, it even ensnared him quite literally.

Shaquille O’Neal brings his words to life

As an entertainment mogul, Shaquille O’Neal created an immersive experience for fans in Las Vegas. He launched Shaq’s Fantasy Labs in October 2023 in collaboration with Fantasy Lab Las Vegas. This company has set up multiple mixed-media exhibits, but this is the most spectacular one yet.

Shaq gave GMA a tour of his exhibit, of which he is the CFO – Chief Fantasy Officer. One room is a labyrinth of Shaq’s greatest words. The glass-walled maze has all of O’Neal’s iconic quotes in neon for visitors to read through till they figure their way out.

“Since I’m a very ‘quote-acious’ fella,” he told ABC News’ Kayna Whitworth while letting her into the room.  A couple of O’Neal’s famous words on display include, “Relax, nothing is under control” and “Every champion was once a dreamer that didn’t give up.”

While taking Whitworth around, he made a hilarious confession. “The crazy thing, so when I first came here, I was trying to read all the signs, and I had to call somebody to get out.” 

Until then, the news anchor was so lost in reading the four-time champion’s words, she didn’t realize she was in a “motivational quote maze.”

This is not all that Shaq’s Fantasy Labs has to offer. But this is the closest thing to having the real Big Diesel playing tour guide.

Shaq channels ‘Big Kid’ energy

O’Neal’s mom dubbed him a “big kid” and you could see why in his tour of the Fantasy Labs. The exhibit is divided into multiple rooms with a story or theme drawn from Big Aristotle’s life.

Besides his quotes, the rooms draw from his career, dreams, emotions, and personal life, depicted in a blend of technology, art, and media. Visitors get to pick from two experiences – Time to Dream and Midnight Dreams. Each one is available on different days of the week.

Both are audio-visual treats with virtual renditions of Shaq. AI Shaq though turned out to be shorter than the real 7’1″ deal. He showcased some of the rooms titled, Enlightenment, Insomnia, Nightmare, Circus, Stars, and more. The room Kaleidoscope was apparently his favorite so he could pretend to be abducted by aliens.
