Yep, Magic Johnson did not hesitate to drop the hammer on Stephen Curry. The GOAT point guard debate has been raging on for a while now. As fans take sides, the participants themselves have also decided to share their views on it. Johnson or Curry, who is a better point guard? Well, it’s evident the two have chosen themselves as any superstar would. However, their unique arguments for their own cause are worth looking into. Particularly the words of the Showtime Lakers’ front-man.

The Golden State Warriors star kept it simple with a humble reply, but Johnson had a lot to say. Putting forth a few conditions, the 5-time champion has set a benchmark for being the GOAT point guard.?

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas triggered the question regarding ‘Best Point Guard’ once again. However this time, the question was directed to Chef Curry. When asked if he is the best point guard ever, Steph took a pause and responded, “Yes.Curry added , “Magic’s resume is ridiculous. The fact that we are even having that conversation… that’s a place I never thought I’d be in.” The 4-time champion had a humble acceptance.

In another interview however, Magic Johnson gave a more assertive answer. After the above video was brought to his notice, Magic clapped back with “Does the number say that?”?

The 3-time MVP added,?“If he got more than five championships, if he got more than three Finals MVP and three league MVPs, then he is the greatest.”?It doesn’t end here!

The Los Angeles Lakers legend also took the time to share that he is the all-time assist leader in the NBA Finals, second place in double-doubles, first place in triple-doubles, and fourth place all-time in steals in the playoffs. A lot of numbers for Steph to catch up to!

Magic sets the benchmark for Steph to overtake him

Well, a lot of conditions are put forward. Nonetheless, championships and MVPs are still a few accolades that Curry has a chance for.

With a big season coming up ahead, the 35-year-old has a good chance to tie Johnson for championships and league MVPs. However, it will not be an easy one considering the stacked Western Conference teams.
