Stephen A. Smith recently took to his official YouTube channel to post the latest episode of his show. During a particular segment, he received a call from Allen, an NBA fan based in New York. Whilst discussing the ongoing Stephen Curry-Magic Johnson GOAT debate, Allen stated his assumption that Smith did not consider the latter to be a contender on that list.

Even before Allen could complete his statement, Smith asked the caller to ?stop right there?. He stated that ?Magic was top two in most of our eyes? and the whole reason he was doing this episode was to point out the difference between a point guard who is ?a facilitator?, and a point guard that could have an impact on the overall offense of the squad.

Smith stated that the Golden State Warriors star came ?from a completely different angle? due to the ability he possessed to move ?without the ball?. Johnson, on the other hand, was the ?quintessential prototypical facilitator? that the host hoped should be the threshold of an aspiring point guard.

Allen mentioned how Johnson managed to shine even as a center when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was injured during the 1980 Finals. This was in contrast to when Stephen Curry lost to the Toronto Raptors after Kevin Durant was out. Stephen A., seemingly contradicting his caller in a loud manner, stated that Johnson was up against the likes of different opponents than Curry.

After the caller continued to make his point, Smith came to the conclusion that he didn?t want to deal with him anymore. ?Shut the hell up. Call back tomorrow when I have more time to get in your behind,? Smith added as he disconnected the call. Stephen A. Smith?s angry monologue took place a few hours after he read out a text that refuted his opinion.

It all started when Steph Curry made an appearance on former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas?s podcast. When asked if he considered himself to be the best point guard, Curry gave a clear ?Yes?. At the same time, he also considered Magic Johnson to be on the same level as him.

These comments kicked off a debate on ESPN, with Stephen A. Smith supporting Curry while Chris “Mad Dog” Russo supporting Magic. During the conversation, Smith mentioned a message that he received at 5:44 in the morning from His Airness. He?stated his opinion that ?Johnson is easily the best PG of all-time,??while ?Steph Curry is very close, but not in front.?

?Magic Johnson invented the triple-double. Not true, invented, but makes it more noticeable in terms of the impact on the game. It?s a point guard stat to be honest. Magic was the best. We can go on, but I don?t want to take up too much of your time,? Jordan reportedly wrote.
