Even with all of the achievements he received during his basketball career, Mashburn will always be remembered for his steadfast dedication to activism and social duty including his 12 seasons. Mashburn led the Box Out Colon Cancer campaign in association with Exact Sciences and The Blue Hat Foundation by utilizing his abilities and experience. This program attempts to raise awareness of colon cancer, the second largest cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, among those 45 years of age and above, and to urge them to make screenings a priority.
