Is there a way to shoot like Stephen Curry? A certain NBA legend apparently has a million-dollar idea to make that happen. Shaquille O’Neal has made no secret of wanting some of that Chef Curry talent. He may have retired from playing but that aspiration still lingers. He’s now an entrepreneur and investor. And he has a pitch for any potential investors who’d like to cash in on the three-point god’s talent.

Big Diesel was a monster on the court but there was one skill that eluded him. He apparently gave it enough thought to come up with a scheme that many would love.

Multi-million investor, Shaquille O’Neal stopped by TechCrunch Disrupt to talk about his latest investment in Edsoma, an EdTech startup. A student from UC Berkeley caught up with him to tap into his entrepreneurial side. Silicon Valley should take note. Big Aristotle has a big idea.

Vanessa Kahkesh asked Shaq, “If you were 18 years old today starting your first business what would you create?” Note, at 18, Shaquille O’Neal made the NBA take notice of him as soon as he suited up for the LSU Tigers. If things went differently, O’Neal could’ve been leading the NBA in three-pointers.

I’d be a genius,” he told his young fan. “‘cause I have chatGPT, I have Google, I have some smart people that at Berkeley around me. What won’t be today, I’ll probably have a little sleeve, wear a little remote control that teaches you to shoot like Steph Curry. Like a wristband and has a little shock that when it hits your thing it just teaches you to go like that and go like that. And I’ll make a fortune.”

He demonstrated his imaginary invention with his hands too displaying that he really needs that. In his entire 19-year NBA career, Shaq has only made one three-pointer out of 22 attempts. Even after retiring, he’s not held back on his wish to be like Steph Curry.

His obsession with Curry nearly got him in trouble not long ago. That time Mama Curry had to silence him.

Shaq’s desire to be Stephen Curry

Though he struggled to score from the three-point line during his career, Shaq has been luckier after retirement. During one of his EDM concerts, he dubbed himself the “Black Steph Curry” when throwing basketballs into the crowds. Hilariously, it was the Warriors star’s mom, Sonya, who corrected that title.

He’s attempting to be like Curry in other ways too, like investing in Tiger Woods’ TGL with him. This is only the tip of the investment iceberg for Shaq who had sound advice for budding entrepreneurs. “Hire people that are smarter than you to have conversations with. If you’re a know-it-all, your company’s not gonna work.
